SPOILERS Fallout 4 Achievements SPOILERS

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 5:12 am

Maybe we should just keep this discussion in the Achievements topic rather than posting the spoiler in the title of a new thread? (Even if it will be vague for people who haven't looked at the Achievements spoiler.)

But yeah, that Achievement pretty well confirms what most of us already expected.

But some of the quests sound really like they could be pro-institut ones. We will have to wait.

"Institutionalized" could be for joining the Institute?

Well, the achievement for joining the BoS is 'Semper Invicta', meaning always unconquered/undefeated. That's kind of interesting. I'd love to see the BoS go toe-to-toe with The Institute and come out on top.

Or maybe they capture you and you escape.

Is that possibly the foot of a rebuilt LIBERTY PRIME! I see in the background of the Ad Victoriam achievement icon?

Ohh god, what if the Prydwen is a mobile Liberty Prime deployment craft?

The 'multiple factions' part makes it sound like we can join more than one, although this could just be a suggestion that we can choose which one of the three we want to side with. If it is only one, then that's at least three playthroughs from the off!

I'm still really curious to see how they each interact as the game unfolds.

I think this pretty much rules out any possibility of the game being set in 2277...

Maybe. But than the picture would be very unfitting. In the ones it looks more like you are working with scientists and not against them. Especially if we take the following quests into account. We have 'Mankind-Redefined' and 'Powering Up'. This could easily be quests you do for the institut.

That is just one posebility, it might just as well be that you can join multiple ones, ofcourse some of the might be mutualy exclusive but its hard to say since we are not sure what relations will the factions have betwen them.

Vying for power doesnt necesarly mean they are in direct confronation since they probably have diferent priorites and agendas in general.

Agreed

Institutionalized -> Mankind-Redefined -> Powering Up = Institute faction arc
The First Step -> Taking Independence -> Old Guns = Minutemen faction arc
Semper Invicta -> Blind Betrayal -> Ad Victoriam = BoS faction arc
Tradecraft -> Underground Undercover -> Rockets' Red Glare = Railroad faction arc

I hope they go for the more militarized look of Prime they had in Fo3's concept art, given that the BoS said they would upgrade him

Looking at the achievement images (on the Fallout wiki, not the link in the first post), I noticed a few things. From the 'Nuclear Family' achievement, it looks like your character's spouse is going to be an old person by the time you find him/her. If you look carefully at the image for 'The Nuclear Option', you can make out CIT on the building Vault Boy is blowing up; I think the most likely meaning is Commonwealth Institute of Technology, and that you're destroying at least one of their facilities for some reason.

Wouldn't that necessitate an achievement for joining the Institute, then, like the rest of the factions?

I have a feeling that the factions will have their separate questlines, but they'll also play into the main questline somehow. I'm also not sure that the main quest is actually linear; whether or not we'll be able to bypass some parts of it, or if the family subplot is more significant to the overall wasteland politics. Also, the "Decide the Fate of the Wasteland" achievement doesn't name any associated quests, so I'm not sure you'd unlock that and the last main quest achievement at the same time.

I would suspect joining the Institute would be part of the part of that first quest, but the quest isn't ABOUT that per-say, its something you can either do/not do as part of that MQ.

Whereas joining the other factions is part of a specific quest for them.

Maybe you not really 'join' the institut? You maybe work with them without joining them properly.

Yeah. I was thinking on something like this too. The Institute arc looks like something to create better humans or such a thing.

Shouldn't most of these be hidden? How could someone unlock all so quick?

It looks like there may be two sets of achievements pertaining to the Institute, one friendly, and one hostile.

Friendly: Institutionalized > Mankind-Redefined > Powering Up

Hostile: Hunter/Hunted > The Molecular Level > The Nuclear Option

The Nuclear Option may even be what what we were shown at the end of the E3 showcase with the orbital blast.

I like that idea. I also think that Rocket's Red Glare is the quest where we blow up the airship in the trailer.

It doesn't.

If that is the foot of liberty prime:

Scenario A - The game takes place over several years (think Fable but without the massive leaps in time).

Scenario B - The Lyon's BoS were able to pump out both an airship and Liberty Prime in a matter of two months.

The strongest evidence we have still points to 2277, a foot doesn't confirm anything outside of the possibility that it is the Lyon's BoS.

If you watch the trailer again you can actually see that the blast comes from inside the building. Like a bomb inside it or something.

The icon for Blind Betrayal looks more like refusing the Brotherhood of Steel.

This would give us a complete branching main quest with the following stages:
Start of main quest
War Never Changes > When Freedom Calls > Unlikely Valentine > Reunions > Dangerous Minds
Join/help faction
Minutemen: The First Step > Taking Independence > Old Guns
BoS: Semper Invicta > Blind Betrayal > Ad Victoriam
Railroad: Tradecraft > Underground Undercover > Rockets' Red Glare
The Institute
Friendly: Institutionalized > Mankind-Redefined > Powering Up
Hostile: Hunter/Hunted > The Molecular Level > The Nuclear Option
End of main quest
Nuclear Family > Sanctuary > Prepared for the Future

Looks like we'll have to wait until launch to know either way then

Just watched it again and I think you may have a point here.

That's a possibility, but one of many. Could also be that the faction quest achievements are separate from the main quest, and only the most significant quests in the faction questlines - a la Skyrim. "Sanctuary" as the end of the Railroad questline would imply that we've finally found a safe place to send off escaped androids. Underground Undercover probably means we'll be doing some undercover work within the Institute to get some roids out of there, or extract some information. No idea what most of the other quests could be about.

Bah, I couldn't resist. But yeah, I'd say there is one fair spoiler in there, but not something you would be surprised about anyway.

Spoiler
Interesting in regards to the faction achievements. I wonder if they work like New Vegas in which they're all opposing each other and you will only be siding with one or if you can just join multiple factions no problem as if they were guilds from TES.
