Spoilers?: Why can other races access Sovngarde?

So at the end of Skyrim, your character travels to Sovngarde to finish off Alduin. But I've always been confused as to the nature of Sovngarde. Is it the spirit-home of Nords, exclusively? If so, how can you access it as an elf or other race? Why do they say they'll see me again, when I'm an Altmer and will never return? Just a dialogue oversight? Is Sovngarde some sort of Daedric realm?

I'd be interested to know this as well, always wondered how an Argonian can enter yet they're loyal to the Hist?

Because your now Ysmir, Dragon of the North, you don't need to be a Nord, Shor has given you the great honour of returning to Sovngarde when you die.

Haha, the Dragonborn sells his soul so many times in Skyrim. Would like to see Nocturnal, Hircine, and Shor battle it out for his immortal soul. Wish this was an element they cut back a bit in Skyrim - committing yourself to deities as part of an unrelated quest. I can understand why old Kodlak was so annoyed with it.
