I spotted driving skill books

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 2:52 pm

I watch the Fallout 4 teaser trailer about 2 times a day.

So the part where the dog goes into the garage that has the power armor standing up and some skill books next to it. There is a vault-tec board hanging on the wall next to that rotating rack.

If you look very closely you can see about 3 skill books that have a picture of a car on them or 4 skill books that have a picture of a car on it.

The first driving skill book has a picture of a blue care, which looks like a convertible Corvega from what I saw. The second driving skill book has a picture of a red cars kind of like the same red car you see in the pre-war scene where all of those NPC's are running away from their houses.

The third driving skill book looks like it has a picture of a tank. I'm not sure if my eyes are seeing badly or not, but take a look for yourself.

One of the (possible) perks on the Vault Tec board also has a picture of a vault boy driving a blue car.

I'm not sure how good an idea vehicles are, but the implication of them is threre.

Could be interesting. Maybe the map is big enough to actually necessitate having a car in the game.

That's the one of the driving skill books I saw the one with a picture of a blue car that looks like a convertible Corvega, with the vault boys head sticking out.

Is that the same driving skill book you saw?

I doubt they're skill books, but good eye.

How is everybody seeing this stuff on that Vault-Tec sticker board? I'm having a hard time distinguishing anything detailed.

Well I heard the same rumor 5 times now that Fallout 4's video game world map will be 3 times bigger than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim's video game world map.

Yeah, one would hope the map is big enough to give a reason for drivable cars to exist if they exist. And yet, keep things so that it's not everywhere you can get with it.

I haven't looked at the books, just the board right of the power armor.

I saw it in the trailer at around 2:20. Full screen, HD quality. Need to squint a bit and get closer, but it's there.

If there was gunna be drivable vehicles surely they would of shown them off in the trailer to attract more hype/intrest in their game. Like instead of the player character and the dog walking off down the road together at the end they could of been driving off with the dog sat on the passenger seat(not driving obviously).

Edit-My laptop is knackered so I'm having to use my phone, can someone get a screen shot of it?

I think Bethesda Game Studios might show off drivable vehicles at their E3 2015 conference, with that 20 minute or 30 minute gameplay video we keep hearing about.

I'm not as concerned about the world size, Oblivion and Skyrim both had horses that let you get around fairly quickly and I bet they'll nerf the car's speed to make it reasonable. I'm more concerned about navigating; the wasteland is bumpy, yo. And some urban areas might be too narrow or full of rubble to let us drive through; you'd never be able to drive a car through parts of Fallout 3 the way it's designed.

Those horses were relatively slow, though. Increase their speed 5 or 10 times and you have a problem with the map size.

The roads in the Fallout video games should be bumpy, especially since they are all heavily cracked or broken apart.

I downloaded a mod for the PC version of Fallout: New Vegas on PC, which lets you drive cars and driving on the roads is a very bumpy ride.

Even if there were drivable vehicles I doubt there would be a skill associated with it. Perhaps a perk like power armor training, but not a skill.

As to putting it in the trailer ... I doubt it. They like to surprise us and that trailer seemed made to deliberately play into our expectations by showing us only what we already knew or think we knew from the rumor mills. With the exception of the airship, I didn't see anything unexpected.

Done. http://i.imgur.com/5RQcxvg.png?1

It's still really hard to distinguish any fine details, but it looks like the very top row represents SPECIAL; you can sort of identify the STR, PER, and AGI artwork. Then under that you've got ten rows; if this is supposed to represent the perk menu (and if so, I totally called it weeks ago but no one would believe me :P), that's 70 perks. In the last two games, the next "tier" of perks happened every other level; no level requirements landed on an odd number.

I'm not sure the poster is representative of all of the perks, though. Fallout 3 had 58 perks before Broken Steel and 72 perks after, and New Vegas had 88 perks before the DLC and 117 perks after, and that isn't counting challenge/quest related perks... I think.

Well there it is in that screenshot you took.

You can clearly see a vault boy sitting in the drivers seat of a blue convertible car driving.

I knew I saw it clearly and that my eyes are not that bad.

Oh, now I see it, five rows under the END column. Either that's a convertible or blue above-ground pools will play a significant role in the game.

It is 100% a blue convertible car. No way does a pool have 4 wheels and tires on it.

I sooner believe in dog-mounts then in vehicles in Fallout 4.

PS: That perk more likely related to a fast travel, like in one of the mods for Fallout 3 you could fast travel only after you buy a bike which needed to be refueled if i believe correctly.

Yeah, you're right. Or... Maybe it's a perk that gives you a speed bonus... from resting in a race car bed. I had one of those when I was a kid. :P

I'm totally down for driving and driving-related perks. I wonder if there's anything else to glean from this poster.

The Charisma Vault Boy looks different. I wonder if Charisma is still a thing. Hopefully it got reworked into something very awesome (maybe still Charisma, but good this time).

It might also be that the pictures under the SPECIAL ones are not perks at all, but just pictures for the different levels of the assigned special stat on top.
