Spray'n Pray alternative

Post » Fri Mar 18, 2016 9:45 am

So... I didn't have the caps to buy the original Spray'n Pay (the "unique" explosive smg from the vendor Cricket.. couldn't find her either...when I think about it.. I never looked for her).

Anyhooo, I startet fantasizing about making my own version. My first thought was to try and find an explosive pipe rifle, and convert it. But finding one proved to be almost impossible it seems. Anyone had any luck?

I found a youtube guy who apparently got a hold of one.. but thats about it. I like pipe guns. Actually a pipe rifle is kinda ideal for this type of build because of the endless ammo types you can convert it to.

But did I find one.. nooo.

BUT, I stumbled upon this: An exploding Combat Rifle!

I converted it to auto rapid fire receiver and a short barell, (eventually I will put on a silencener -gun nut 4).. and voila, my own version. Spray'n Die! :chaos:

So much more satisfying, looks cooler, almost the same firerate, more powerful, and just so fun to use.. absolutely chops of all kinds of limbs in seconds. And if you find it to powerful and amusing, just convert i to a powerful sniperrifle and see heads explode in the distance.. if thats you thang. And the best thing: you can use all kinds of plentiful ammo types

Anyone else made their own versions of Unique Legendary weapons?

(Like Overseers guardian, Le Fusil Terribles, Kelloggs pistol etc)

I did a little playing with the Combat Rifle and Submachine Gun... my experience was that a fully modded Automatic Combat Rifle and Submachine Gun kill things in about the same amount of time, the Combat Rifle has a slower rate of fire but greater damage for each shot, and the SMG has a crazy rate of fire but sad damage for each shot. The greater fire rate should make the SMG the better candidate for the Explosive effect, and other effects that work great with fire rate, but it's still way too ammo inefficient to use instead of an automatic Combat Rifle.

I guess you are right, and thats why the automatic combat rifle is a better alternative. And if you run out of ammo you can change it from .45 to .38 and .308 (not sure it will be automatic anymore..)

I have both the exploding combat rifle and the Spray and Pray, both are my heavy hitters, depending on how fast I need something dead.

Spray and Pray is good for hosing the legs of a Mirelurk Queen or a Deathclaw or a Behemoth so he stays down.

I found an exploding piper rifle. Never use it, thing is super weak compared to the Spray'N'Pray. My explosive gun of choice is the 10mm (I dubbed it TnT).

Full-auto, suppressed explosive assault-rifle. Endgame shooty goodness, right there.

The RNG gods were very good to me over the weekend. One of the weapons I was lucky enough to get my hands on was an explosive combat rifle. Honestly, after using it for a few days now, I'd never use Spray n' Pray. A combat rifle with the best automatic receiver has a decent rate of fire. Combine that with its higher dps and it chews through mobs.

I took it for a test drive over at Big John's Salvage (if you've been there, you know). The only time it didn't absolutely wreck everything was against a Super Mutant Primus. It took some doing to take him down.

That combat rifle changed to auto is still better than smg.

And the fact its explosive well that's a win for you so you just got a better machine gun all together lol.

yup, it's pretty insane that one.

I've been loving the full-auto, suppressed, 2-shot assault rifle.

181dmg per shot, thing hits like a train and has a faster ttk than the explosive variant or so it seems.

Yeah, the Assault Rifle is pretty much the best automatic ballistic weapon in the game. The .308 Combat Rifle is probably the best semi-auto ballistic weapon, too - that doesn't leave much room for the Submachine Gun to shine. I've been thinking of how to balance the three out in a mod, but I'm torn.
