Sprinting and Fatigue

Post » Sat May 15, 2010 11:46 pm

So in CoD, the sprinting is: run for a little, and stop to catch your breath. But the other choice is constant running forever. I was wondering if anybody knew.
And in CoD, the marathon perk let you run forever. Will constant Smarting be a perk?

Now I know people will say "DERP thith ithn't CoD, it'th BWINK!!! HAH LOL" So I am saying in advance that I understand this... Brink > CoD. Is the Smarting going to be on and off, or constant forever?

In the gameplay videos, I remember there being panting in the background, so this makes me think it will be CoD style. But this is why I am asking the many people out here: CoD style, or forever?

The length of that will probably be determined during the balancing process that's still going on. But to speculate personally I don't think it would be very balanced to be able to SMART non stop. So it'll probably be in limited bursts. That doesn't mean it's "CoD style". The length will probably be determined by the developers during the balancing process.

Edit: Good question btw. And you DO realize that the smart IS the sprint button that is engaged? Have you read the H0RSE files?

I actually think it all depends on how much health a Light has in my opinion. If a Light is fatigued very quickly, then that puts the Lights to a great disadvantage to the Heavies. But on the other hand, if its infinite, you might get into problems that its over-powering.
So, i dont think it will be infinite, but i hope it will last longer than the CoD sprint.

Or maybe the Heavies will get Fatigued faster than the Lights?

Edit: Good question btw.

Yes, I knew that. That's why I invented the word SMARTING.

I think and hope that it partially depends on bodytype. I think that you should have a pretty high standard speed as well. Infinite sprint is not the greatest idea, it removes part of the balance.

Perks to lengthen endurance in this arena would be cool though.

I think I've read somewhere (an interview? a forum chat with devs?...) that sprinting will be infinite because they want you to get close to the fight as fast as you can. If SMART movement and sprinting are the same...no fatigue?

The SMART button is the sprint button, so yes, that would be infinite fatigue :P

there are no sprint bars - players will never get tired. This has already been said by the devs numerous times.

Marathon in CoD doesn't give you infinite sprint by the way.

In MW2 it does, i know that for a fact. But who cares, thats Cod. This is Brink.

I can also confirm that in the expo-demo I didn't run out of stamina once.

The End

If they can run forever, there is no end!

In MW2, Marathon let's you sprint for as long as you want; Marathon Pro also allows you to climb faster.
In Blops, Marathon increases your sprint-ability; Marathon Pro allows you to sprint as long as you want.

Why's everything gotta be compared to Call of Duty. When I reload my gun at the range it doesn't remind me of CoD. When I go for a jog I am not reminded of CoD. When I use a knife to cut up chicken in the kitchen I'm not thinking about Call of Duty. But everything in every other game relates to Call of Duty for some reason. And this is why I don't play that stupid game.

Everyone knows the show friends. That doesn't make it quality television.

This is true (as it is true for TItanic and Avatar), but concerning video games, especially shooters, the genres are much less fluent and thus it's easier to compare any shooter with each other.

(You can compare Friends to How I Met Your Mother very well, but not to Navy CIS at all.)

+1

Anyway Call of Duty is the generic fps that everyone knows, easy to compare and contrast things from it
