sprinting seems to be possible

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 11:21 pm

in the new Trailer footage ( the old one without todd Howard commenting and which is Extended by a few scenes), the Protagonist seems to sprint at the time he reaches the small town that is attacked by raiders and where he mets the black Cowboy. so appearently sprinting seems to be possible.

aside from that the footage Shows once again that the bright sun and the accompanying highly saturated and bright Colors really look out of place.

I don't see how adding a positive game mechanic makes it any more COD like.

because it gives People better incentives to just use the easy way of Shooting things up instead of looking for smart Solutions.

Care to elaborate on how the ability to traverse areas faster figures exclusively towards "Shooting things up" and not things like:

Fleeing from enemies

Exploration

Getting from one side of town to the other more quickly

Or any of the other things that would make sprinting a nice feature to have?

Also, since sprinting drains your AP, the currency of V.A.T.S. sprinting doesn't automatically feed into making shooting things easier. Now, you'll have to decide if V.A.T.S. is worth using, or if you think you might need to use those AP points to rapidly change your position. You know, strategy.

Sprinting makes shooting harder. It costs AP which means that you can shoot less with VATS after sprinting

Agreed. No other game should ever have iron sights, good shooting mechanics and the ability to sprint. Because then it becomes like Call of Duty, which is a really bad thing.

I always assumed sprinting would be in since it was in Skyrim and I think it can add to strategy not take away from it. Under heavy fire? Sprint to cover, use it to maneuver for better vantage point, etc... or Sprint to cover the distance with a melee character.

And I have to admit I just bought Fallout 3 (I played Fallout 1 & 2 and Morrowind thru Skyrim) and I can't tell you how many times these last few days I've tried sprinting and was disappointed.

Of course you can sprint. Why wouldn't you be able to? It worked very well in Skyrim and frankly these days I'd expect it of any game where the player is in direct control of their character.

The Call of Duty comparison is just laughable. I could sprint (and shoot) in The Last of Us, too, and the combat in that game was incredibly tactical at times. Certainly no one compared it to CoD.

I prefer having sprint in Fallout more than I do Skyrim. In TES, before Skyrim, athletics was an active skill that you could train. You also had more immediate solutions if you weren't satisfied with your movement speed such as Alchemy and Enchantment (Boots of blinding speed anyone?).

In the modern fallouts, there's no skill you can dump points into. IIRC the only way to affect movement speed was wearing lighter armors. Fallout also doesn't have horses (Unless you count the vertibird). So your movement options were limited.

Its much more realistic to stand still in a firefight, or to slowly walk behind cover as your body absorbs multiple bullets........or maybe we could just sprint to cover when we run into a load of enemies, no must not improve game mechanics in any way!

What are you a COWARD? You don't run/sprint/hide/seek cover from enemies!!! You Call of Duty them! You bum rush up to 'em, and shoot 'em point blank. If they kill you before you get there, then you were just dutying it wrong.

:D

You say Call of Duty, I say FWE/Project Nevada. Isn't great when the developers listen to the players?

Looking at youtube trolling videos is the closest I've got to Call of Duty lately, but from them it appears that shooting through walls, shooting the other player despite the bullets visually missing and knifing players seems to be the way to play......preferably while having a silly/disturbing voice.

Sprinting is one of those features that is merely a natural evolution of 1st/3rd person games and should be available for all games. Being unable to run is not logical in this day and age, plus it will add more effect modifications for heavy armor and chems (-10% sprint speed, -15% Sprint AP Cost, etc)

Indeed, a great feature. IN Skyrim I can only move using sprint and Whirlwind Sprint

God I'm so glad Call of Duty came out in 2003. I'm just surprised it took the human species so long to invent running. It really svcked walking everywhere, football and basketball were a lot more boring to watch.

Really though this is a pretty [censored] troll thread. Come on OP, step your game up.

I had a sprinting mod for Fallout and it was great.

I hope NPCs can sprint too.
