Spyware in game?

Actually, I just found the file! It does seem suspicious. The contents read: "Is going fine. Kill all Oblivion players. Also, kill Moose and Squirrel." :stare:

Yup. Mine is actually stored on my D: drive "Program Files" where I keep screenshots and not in my Oblivion directory. Opening it in notepad reveals that it's coded in Chicom Wingdings... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Y73sPHKxw

If there was a slap emote, I'd sure use it right now.

:slap: :D

Also, I find it hard to believe the game is not uploading anything, as Oblivion.exe, a single-player game, is linked with winsock library in obfuscated way, via ordinals. I see no any reason for a single-playing game being able to use internet connection. Therefore I conclude the game gather statistics beyound my back and use network also beypound my back.

There's an Elderscrolls.com option on Oblivion's load up splash screen. So Oblivion probably has some winsock protocols so it can connect you to their website should you ever choose to do so (by clicking on Elderscrolls.com). Also, a lot of programs collect data when the program crashes, basically to make a time stamp of information when it happened and the technical data of what happened. Any program usually gathers the technical data of a program glitch/ crash and then present you user with the option of they want to send that debug info to the program maker, so they can fix/ make patches for their product. It's either that or you can go through ours of troubleshooting with their technical support to figure out what happened and then write up all the technical data yourself.
