SSDs and BSAs

Post » Fri Aug 24, 2012 2:16 am

Just built a new computer and, for the first time, have an SSD - where Oblivion is installed.

I wonder if uncompressed BSAs would be accessed faster with an SSD. My understanding of things with an HDD is that compression/uncompression is not the limiting factor, but drive access time is, so there is no real performance benefit to uncompressed BSAs.

Has this changed with SSDs?

Check out some benchmarks (in a review, say). You will see various comparisons, among them access time (latency, if you will) and transfer speed (MB/s or whatever), etc.
