Stability Issues

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 2:00 am

Hi guys, I'm getting alot of crash to desktops that I've never gotten on previous installs of Oblivion. However, I have a new computer now, and a new mod list. Suffice it to say that my computer has an 8 core (or rather 4 cores with hyper threading if i recall) processor and I'm running Windows 7 64 bit. The Crashes are usually random, crashing just out of nowhere as I may be running or something else mundane. Heres my mod list in order that I have spent much time getting to run seems to work so far:

Oblivion.esm
Francesco's Leveled Creatures-Items mod.esm
Francesco's Optional New Items Add-on.esm
Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul.esm
Mart's Monster Mod.esm
Enhanced Daedric Invasion.esm
FCOM Convergence.esm
HorseCombatMaster.em
All Natural Base.esm (I suspect to be the main culprit)
Unofficial Oblivion Patch.esp
UOP Campire Aging and Face Fix.esp
Oblivion Citadel Door Fix.esp
Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Bosses.esp
Francesco's Optional Chance of Stronger Enemies.esp
FCOM Francescos.esp
FCOM_FrancescosItemsAddOn.esp
FCOM FrancescosNamedBosses.esp
Bob's Armory Oblivion.esp
Fcom Bobs Armory.esp
Loth's Blunt Weapons for Npcs.esp
FCOM Loths Blunt Weapons.esp
Oblivion WarCry EV.esp
FCOM Warcry.esp
Obscuros Oblivion Overhaul.esp
Mart's Monster Mod - Additional Enemy NPC vars.esp
FCOM Convergence.esp
FCOM RealSwords.esp
FCOM DurabilityandDamage.esp
MMM More Wilderness Life.esp
MMM More Wilderness Life No Gates.esp
FCOM SaferRoads.esp
FCOM LessRats.esp
MMM Looting NPCs and Creatues.npc
MMM Less Bone Loot.esp
MMM Foxes.esp
MMM Dungeons of MMM.esp
MMM Gems and Gem Dust.esp
MMM Hunting and Crafting.esp
MMM Farm Animals.esp
MMM Durzog add on.esp
FCOM DiverseGuardUnity.esp
OOO-Waterfish.esp
MMM City Defences.esp
Enganced Daedric Invasion.esp
FCOM Enhanced Daedric Invasion.esp
**ALL of the unique landscapes mods, with the LOD fix.** (shouldnt be a problem)
Deadly Reflex 5- Combat Moces.esp ( I dont know why its up here, I usually run it last)
Francescos Slower skills x1.5.esp
MMM Resized Races.esp
Francescos 7 days respawn time.esp
All Natural - Indoor Weather Filter for Mods.esp (the box to this is check marked red, but I installed it OMOD style and did exactly as the instructions said on everything in the installation)
All Natural.esp
All Natural - Real Lights.esp
GP_Regen.esp
Bashed Patch, 0.esp

EDIT: I would appreciate any help.

There is a http://tesivpositive.animolious.com/?page=know_how_to to PYLO (second subsection there). Recommended. Actually, the whole site is. Very informative.

Also, make sure you've installed Oblivion somewhere other than the default location, given your OS. Try something like C:\Games\Oblivion or whatever, if you haven't already seen to this. If you must, start over again, and save your sanity while you can.

Lastly, make sure you not only use BOSS (the latest version of it, from within Wrye Bash preferably), but also *read* the Boss Log html page that will come up, thoroughly.

Same goes for readme files and the opening posts of current official mod release threads.* They are there so that you can find out what to do, what not to do, and how to go about both. I can't emphasise this enough, but I hope I've made it clear, anyway. :)

* For example, the FCOM Convergence one, in particular.

Right off the bat I'm going to suggest things that helped me. First, try installing http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=23208. If you're still getting crashes, type 'tdt' in the console and check how much texture memory is being used. If it's higher than the amount of VRAM on your video card you'll run into problems. I was getting frequent crashes and reducing texture memory usage and installing OSR cleared up a majority of them.

Well...I installed it to Program filesx86, but I have UAC turned off so I figured it was ok. If I need to install it somewhere else, can I simply copy and paste the important stuff like Data files and have it all back?

If you have disabled UAC, that's... up to you. It's probably a lost cause, even trying to argue that one. That's generally what I've found.

Suffice it to say, UAC exists for a very good reason. Seriously. But, all in all, it is of course your PC, to do with as you see fit. And that's the last I'll say about that (in this thread... ;))

As for moving stuff around? No, I'd suggest a clean reinstall. But again, whatever works for you. And really, *do read* the FCOM thread's OP. Carefully and completely. And follow it precisely. Then, you can hardly go wrong.

edit: Oh, and the suggested method of posting your load order is also for good reason - it means people (whether me or someone else) can be more help, potentially at least.

Post your load order via Wrye Bash as said. Your FCOM install is a bit off but better to wait with recommendations until we get version numbers as well: rightclick fileheader > list mods > paste into post.

Right off the bat check your MMM install. The Durzog addon I believe is integrated in the latest version, don't recall seeing it when I did my instasll. So that seems like an OLD MMM version.

Looks like you DO have an old MMM install. Go the the MMM or uFcom and Fcom threads they have links to the latest. In the uFcom and FCOM thread you will find links to the latest Warcry. If you have not visited that page, that is the guide you should follow and use the links provided. The UOP has a supplemental out with new patches for the DLCs too. It is all on this page:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1160205-relz-fcom-convergence-and-ufcom/

Follow those instructions. Many of the fcom mods now have bsa files except OOO and have been optimized.

When I read the first time beginners install thing from FCOM's website, it told me to download the MMM beta 7. It told me to unpack the esp (or maybe it was the esm, it was one of them) and unpack the textures and meshes and stuff into the data folder. When I didnt see a textures or meshes or anything like that folder in the MMM 37b3 Public Release file, I assumed I downloaded the wrong thing or was doing something wrong. I figured I had gotten a hold of the add on pack instead of the base file or something, unless i'm wrong in thinking theres an addon pack. Anyway, I downloaded the one below it under old versions, figuring it was ok, andsure enough, there were textures and meshes in it, so i thought 'this must be the one'. Thank you.

EDIT: to be clear, I did what it said and installed the 3.5.5 version of MMM first, which i thought was a little strange, but whatever.

Heh, and NOW I see the 'currently fcom homepage does not hold up to the minute information and links'.

Return to IV - Oblivion
