"Stabling my horse?"

Post » Mon Jan 20, 2014 6:50 am

So, I recently "aquired" Frost, the horse in Riften. It's really nice and it follows me around everywhere which I also find is both nice and usefull until we come to place where hostilities may occur.

I don't know how many times I've found Frost dead on the ground now (which forces me to re-load old savegames and I don't save so often... :( )

So, my quetion is, can I stable my horse somehow?

EDIT: An unrelated question but... I got attacked by some cultists I think it was outside my Breezehome some time ago. The bodies are still there and have been for a loooong time. Will they de-spawn?

If you don't want Frost to follow you, then just don't Fast Travel. I gave up trying to keep him alive after he ran into another battle after another. I now kind of wish that Shadowmere would do the same thing, but she won't die.

Somebody may have come up with a mod for this, if your on PC.

I never thought of this (a mod for making the horse not follow).

Well, I don't have all day to play so I have to fast travel at occasions. I guess I'll let the horse die some meaningfull death in the near future then. It was more fun just to trick that fool into not getting the horse, so you could say Frost was more of a price than anything else. ;)

I guess you can't make your spouse ride on the back of the horse?

Shadowmere is tougher to kill but it can die too.

As for the cultists, they haven't despawned in my games too. If they bother you, you could drag the bodies away in a corner of Whiterun.

Which is why I wish there was a shadowmere type horse for non assassin characters.

If you play on PC the Convenient Horses mod enables you to set your horses to "Cowardly" status which means they run away from all hostiles and almost always survive encounters. You can also set them to "Follow" or "Not Follow" you which means they will stay put where you dismount if you want them to. Both of these are incredibly useful.

However I do not know if these features apply to Frost and Shadowmere.

Thank you, I'll check it out! :)

How do I "drag them" away?

Activate the body, just like looting the body or arranging clutter. I am on a PC and just hold the "E" key to move the corpse where it is a little less noticable.

aye, I found out by myself but thanks anyway! :)

For everyone: Frost is no problem no more. He died and I could not bother to relead the save. Haha.. I'll keep the ownership note as a proof and memory! :D
