That challenge map is all about push push push. Getting a little bit done on say, the repair portion, dieing, and running back and doing it again is most likely going to get it done faster then playing cautiously and trying to stay in cover.
The trick to the dealing with the bot team is actually pretty simple, though a bit luck based. First of all, kill their medic. On my game he's always a medium build in a blue vest and beret. Then, wound the other team, but don't worry about killing them.
Because their respawn timer is so short, they'll be back at full power in no time. But if you get them under 50% hp with no medic... they run away and hide for 10-15 seconds.
I actually just cleared being objective as a light build at 3 star rank without any problem doing this. Killing the bots makes them respawn and go straight to their defense objective. Wounding them makes them run to random spots on the map to hide/heal.
This can work on defensive escort too, but less so because they don't run far. Usually you want to keep the bot repaired and always moving, even if you die a lot. It will eventually get there as long as you stay alive and keep near it.
Tower Defense (really should have been named king of the hill) mostly comes down to your accuracy and mobility. Keep moving, take your time, pick them off, and leave your mine/turret guarding the command post just in case.
After playing against humans for the last week, I realized how stupid and easy to kill the bots actually are.
