Question: Is the Black Tie Fighter the new model or a character's custom? I hope there are a few new ships, with personality like Slave 1 and the Falcon, with more moments like mechanical nightmare we saw in Empire Strikes Back.
I'm confident 7 will blow my mind. The number of interesting villains they've deployed this time boggles the mind.
Cpt Phasma's this sort or physician of death: delivering hot ordinance with a cold calculation.
General Hux reminds me of Admiral Piett, in that he's a consummate military man: original yet loyal.
Kylo Ren: whose Hamlet to Vader's Yoric could make him the deepest emotionally and spiritually developed in the saga (potentially). The Knights of Ren are your basic Star Wars nerds: collectors of relics and Vader worshipers, their order seem to be paramilitary, and a conceptual throwback to the science-fantasy roots of Star Wars.

I do hope he's revealed to be Darth Pelageus, resurrected from his mortal wounds, maybe ebbing in and out of the Force; or spiritually speaking, not yet whole with the Force. He may have been hiding in a trance, or projected his consciousness into the Force, to save himself from Darth Sidious' inevitable treachery.
@ funnybunny - I'm very happy they threw out the extended universe.
It was high time someone cleaned house. We'll see Admiral Thrawn and Mara Jade, just not in their original forms. I'm confident of that much. Hux might be too young for a role like Thrawn, but Benicio Del Toro took a role as a villain in Star Wars 8. So we'll see. He'd make an excellent Thrawn, and, frankly, those were the salvageable characters out from the EU. I've heard whispers of an Old Republic mini-series, in the vein of Rogue One. That covers the EU, as far as I ever cared (and, yes, I read many of the novels).
The only plot arc left for them to follow is the mystery of Darth Pelageus. The Tragedy of Pelageus is the trajectory of Star Wars. It was he whose gift Sidious enticed Anakin to the dark side through. Anakin had been manipulated into believing his paranoiac nightmares were prophetic, then offered the secret of eternal life, which Palpatine divulges was his Master's obsession.
