All good points.... unless he didnt know he had a kid. Thats the only way I see the theory working with the argument you presented.

But I thought Jedi except for Anakin were above emotional attachments. For an upstanding Jedi like Obi Wan having a kid would have been a major part of his life. I doubt he would have abandoned her, after all he didn't abandon Luke? I assume you guys are talking about Rey? How old is she like 19 or 20? Obi Wan was already a force ghost when she was born.

The theory is she is his granddaughter. I agree with you though that it really doesn't fit him.

Super Fan Theory! Rey is the reincarnation of Anakin, born as Obi-Wan's granddaughter, who was partially trained by Luke and then deserted on Jakku by Ben.

Maybe she is just force sensitive. I know it's not dramatic but it is a possibility.

Thats always an option, though you have to admit with the franchise track record it's unlikely.

But----that would make her an original character....{in a sinister voice} and we just can't have that :chaos:.

But seriously I prefer the idea Rey is force sensitive :D.

It's possible he might have conceived a child with Satine Kryze. We don't know whether their romantic relationship was consummated or not. But he was willing to leave the Jedi order for her and that is pretty serious stuff. It is possible that she conceived a child with him during their year on the run and simply didn't tell him about it.

Now whether that is probable is another matter. Personally I'm doubtful. But it's not impossible.

I have to ask myself, why wasnt any of that backstory presented in the movie? Would have totally added some depth and understanding to that scene.

Because I grew up watching movies like El-Cid, Ben Hur, Fall of the Roman Empire, Spartacus, The Vikings, Planet of the Apes, Where Eagles Dare, Operation Crossbow, Sinbad, Excalibur, Clash of the Titans, along with a thousand similar movies on VHS, for me script and characters are the most important things. Action, music, special effects etc. just add to the quality, but without the former the latter is quite a weak affair. ESB had the best balance, whilst ANH was a great intro to the characters and the universe. It eased you in without getting too heavy too soon. All of the heavy drama was always the job of ESB. ROTJ was due to carry on with all the heavy drama, with things like the death of Han, and Luke finding out about "The Other" (NOT Leia). But Lucas wanted to get things over with quickly, as well as focusing on marketing, so ROTJ turned into a big toy advert.

I should watch the clone wars. Since Disney declares the 6 movies and clone wars as the only things Canon then this might well be a possibility.

I wish the book series about Obi-Wan training under Quigon was cannon. It was really good. They had one too for Anakin that bridged some of the gap between I and II that was also pretty good.

A Chris Stuckmann critique of TFA and of the criticisms of the film. He makes A LOT of good points about movies that come in a series. This is a must watch in my opinion.

Sometimes in war you just gotta sit back, take in the environment and watch a Star Destroyer filled with your Stormtrooper buddies crash into a planet.

So, something I've been wondering that I haven't seen asked. What's the deal with Maz and Chewy? I mean that's like opposite ends of the physical spectrum. Tall and hairy with short and smooth.... me wonders if that's how Ewocks came about?
