I'm excited. I hate that they are throwing out the EU, but I can understand the reasoning behind the decision. There will just have to be two universes for me.

Also, darrrnnnnn the Falcon looks GOOD!

Is this a joke? This [censored] can't be serious, someone explain this because I'm very confused.

Disney or not, I'm optimistic that Star Wars will go in a good direction. It's a whole lot easier to move forward from the end of Jedi than it is to contrive a backstory for the original movie.

What exactly are you confused about?

Also, that lightsaber looks like something a four year old would design.

[censored] yeah, it feels good to be back!

I don't know what the black storm trooper has to do with everything, but I'm excited to find out.

The new lightsaber design looked interesting, not sure if I really care for it or not. I get the concept, but I'm not sure if I'm a fan.

Yeah, in my opinion the main flaw with the prequels was some of the cast, and the fact that they tried to explain everything when all we really needed was a Darth Vader Origin story. And the fact that there are a lot of things in the originals that stopped making sense, like Leia remembering her mom.

I liked the casting choise for Obi-Wan, that's about it. Oh and Jar Jar was probably the biggest mistake.

One good sign i noticed, not a single lens flair! Not to say there isnt gonna be any, but maybe abrams has heard everyone's complaints about his overuse of lens flairs.

lol. I thought the trailer was a Parody at first.

------------

Well, I'm....not hype. The video was too short for me to enjoy so...I'll have to wait.

I thought it looked pretty lame, tbh.

It's only a teaser trailer, of course we can't say anything about the story, but I like the look and effects so far, only negative thing I can say is that sith light saber design looks dumb. That supposed to be a crossguard?

But then again I think of boba fetts wierd jetpack missile.

Firstly, as you said, the lightsaber. Secondly, every vehicle looks like they put together a few shapes, made "cool" CG and there it is. Thridly, the voice... That [censored] voice. Ze light side and ze dark... Are we sure this is not some sick parody? This is worse than anything Lucas could ever come up with. Ho-lee [censored].

I agree with you, a crossguard would be cool, but it doesn't have to be a lightsaber one, can't they use vibroblade material or something?

Just to point out, the Xwings are actually based on sketches by Ralph Mcquarrie when he was doing the original concepts in the 70's, or at least they look damn close to them. They also look like they are the full sized models we've seen in some videos (Look for Force for Change on Youtube)

As for the Falcon? It's the same shape it always was.

Abrams is actually using less CGI than Lucas did. He's had full sets built, gone on location instead of just using green screen, built miniture and full sized models and is even using animatronics. Lucas would have just had everyone in the green screen room for the entire shooting period.

Lucas would have just had some rambling story about mortgage disputes and then CGI'd in some annoying creature.

Oh,
I did love the design of that soccer ball looking droid and that land-floater/speeder looking vehicle that one woman was on.

The speeder looks very much like many EU descriptions of Swoops. Either a cargo area or one heck of an engine at the front.

I agree, it's like the good old star wars, but also brand new at the same time.

Looks like there are remnant forces out and about, as well. I personally think this movie is gonna be awesome. But we'll see, we need more details on it first.

The beauty of a teaser trailer. Shows loads without showing anything at all.

That lightsaber. AHAhahahahaahahaa!

Look the point of a crossguard is to protect your hand from your enemy's blade. But if someone's lightsaber actually slid up the blade, it would hit the projector for the crossguard, not the beam, and slice it right off. There is literally no point to it.

The crossguard lightsaber does exist in the EU. But yeah, i agree it's pretty damn pointless.. I guess you could block a lightsaber with it maybe, but it seems like more of a danger to the wielder than a help.

Possible psychological advantage too it. A weapon of fear more than anything, an opponent that sees it is going to be concerned that the wielder knows exactly how to use the weapon.

Beyond that, in combat, it's going to have it's own risks to the wielder.

Guys, I don't think we should get into the logic of lightsabers. I don't understand the creative idea behind this one, though. The three beams would have to be connected for it to work properly. They might get enough backlash on that to change it. I personally liked the trailer a lot. It feels noticeably like the new Star Trek films but that's okay. I did see a couple lens flares but nothing ridiculous like in Star Trek.

Thought it was a parody. Not really hyped by the trailer, which I suppose is a good thing.
