Star Wars Galaxies reference

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 11:14 am

I was looking around the forum for info and what not, and the factions/sides.

I played SWG for a while back in the day and we had the awesome AT-ST and AT-AT imperials with cool armor and whatnot, and then we had the rebels with crap and crap armor and crap vehicles, etc etc.

This sorta reminds me of just that. Security gets pimped out nice futuristic armor and shiny outfits etc, and then the resistance seems like a hobo(no offense) that I see while walking around the 71st street in NYC.

Sure this adds the realistic, if you can call it that, theme of how the resistance is struggling to make due with whatever they have etc, but I mean come on!

Then again, as long as the gameplay is not effected(unlike SWG) then I'm fine

*EDIT*

For you uptight people, or maybe my misinformation, this is A reference to SWG not saying that the whole concept is SWG based or referenced directly TO SWG, SO CHILL

Armor and clothing is purely aesthetic so the high tech armor on the Security side won't play any different than the shirtless Resistance fighter.

SWG took them straight out of the SW universe, so really it's more like showing similarity to the Empire's security forces and Rebellion's soldiers in Star Wars than a specific reference to SWG. George Lucas happened to take many of the ideas from historical rebellions as well, so maybe they just stumbled into similar source material at the same time.

To be fair, clearly Storm Troopers were wearing the armor for purely aesthetic reasons, since that armor never saved a single soldier from a damn thing.

By that logic the gus were for aesthetic reasons too, they never hit anything.

They might have been, except they did manage to hit a great number of Rebel troops on Hoth, as well as aboard Leia's ship in the opening of A New Hope. Can't say what happened the rest of the times, but I suspect that it had something to do with the big black, and might I add poorly centered, convex lenses they were trying to look through. Somebody must have gotten fired for that design flaw, cost them the whole empire.

You guys know what

Storm Troopers were just a huge conspircay - The lazers didn't do [censored], their armor don't do [censored], and they just left room for the drones to pummel their way through the resistances buttocks

It's not a reference, and which clothes you like best is just opinion. I think the Resistance look better, I'm not a fan of uniform.

Some of the rebels.

I mean really, It takes a lot of nerve to go into battle wearing only your http://laowaichinese.net/wp-content/uploads/Episode_4_Han_Solo_and_Chewbacca_1.jpg

Sure the uniforms svck, but the Storm Troopers in shiny white aren't doing themselves any favors in the the forests of Endor, or on the big gray mass of metal they call home.

You're out of your mind. The Rebel Flight suits from Empire are the coolest things in the whole series - http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_lrVD9BpPgwU/S40Z_CV2CQI/AAAAAAAAAOo/LquzByn0arQ/s1600-h/luke.jpg

I also have the Rebel insignia tattooed on my arm.

Maybe in Episode 4
You are going to tell me that http://www.galacticempiredatabank.com/StormTrooper1.jpg looks better than http://media.photobucket.com/image/endor%20rebel%20soldier/dewbackpatrol/Definitive%20Figure/EndorSoldier05.jpg

ONE OF THEM HAS A BEARD...How many stormtroopers have beards(that you can tell)?

What the hell did you just call me? and the clothing styles of the factions in Brink have nothing to do with star wars, they are not refering to star wars in anyway, and the only thing similar is that the resistance and rebels is that the resistnce dress abit gurellia style, but mostly they dress in scraps and discarded clothing, and improvised armor, anything they can get there hands on.

Cool your jet bro. They are using SWG as reference that armor has no effect on a defense feature. Just like in Star Wars.

I like my men in uniforms (or even mecha outfits). Thus, I prefer the clone troopers, storm troopers and Brink's Security men. B)

Always hated those SW Rebel peoples' ugly orange pilot outfits (though their green camouflage outfits were much better and anything Princess Leia has is always fashionable), lol. :D

Besides, I don't think Brink would be the first to have rebels with rag-tag/mixed-up clothing and "bad guys"/"government"/"evil empire" with uniforms or whatever.
Isn't there a TVtrope for that?

Good Job putting that into quotes! Those are very perspective words, which is what the dev's were going for!
But I would like to disagree, yet agree at the same time.
I prefer the "begged/borrowed/Stolen" look. It represents the ability to adapt and survive under any condition.
But the uniform shows strength and unity.
When it comes down to it...I'll stick with my rags

OMG, thank you. I couldn't think of how to describe (I'm not good at articulating things, lol) the Resistance clothing.

I prefer uniforms....maybe it's because I have always been
taught to use dress codes in school environments (I was training to become a teacher in college), and I've grown up seeing firefighters, cops,
nurses/doctors, businessmen/women, everyone in most workforce environments wearing a "dress code"/uniform thing, lol.
