Its a great game! Interaction with party members and dialogue is top notch. Great story, and lots of customization. It's one of my all time favorite rpgs. The combat system is sort of a turnbased-realtime hybred though, so if you're a fan of hack n' slash combat, you might not like it. I would recomend it though. :celebration:

btw: if you decide get KOTOR I would recomend #1, the sequel was not nearly as good (In my opinion).

Erm, it's only one of the best RPGs of any franchise yet made.

The sequel would have blown the original away in terms of storyline if it hadn't been perverted beyond a coherent ending by Lucasarts pushing it out a year early, but it's still well worth playing through as well.

I have a side question on the game. I tried reinstalling KOTOR II the other day but couldn't get it to work on my PC that uses Vista. Apparently I haven't played it since using XP on an older computer. Is there a compatibility mode on Vista that will work with it? (I should probably try the first KOTOR again to see if that's incompatible also.)

Anyway, it's a good series despite the rushed ending of KOTOR II.

I thought it was a chore to play. That style of game-play does nothing for me. On top of that, the story is a tad predictable.

Then again, you said you're waiting for DA2, so go ahead. As I thought DA: Origins was terrible as well.

I hear it's one of the best RPGs ever. I have it, but haven't really played it yet. Yet another victim of "too many games, too little time". Damn Bethesda's infinitely replayable games, and their modding communities too! :swear:

Yes, they both have trouble with Vista and 7. Try this page: http://www.lucasforums.com/showthread.php?t=194296

It was KOTOR that got me into rpg games. I bought it thinking it was another one from the jedi knight series (big fan at the time).
Once I installed it, I got a little disapointed since I didn′t like roleplaying games at all...after one hour, I was hooked...

Brilliant, brilliant game.

Epic story, amazing characters, and one assassin droid that you will never be able to forget.

A must play.

Yeah, you right click it, run it in compatibility mode if I remember correctly.

As far as console games go, it's the best console game I've ever played (well, game designed for console first, then ported to PC).

I'd highly recommend it. And whoever said the storyline was predictable, well, I really have no idea how you predicted the storyline, but whatever.

Every Bioware game since KotOR has been trying to be KotOR. If you like Jade Empire/Mass Effect/Dragon Age, you will probably like KotOR.

I thought I was the only person who realized this. Seriously, the NPCs all with their own stories growing on you and helping you more when you talk to them more, straight from KotOR. KotOR is what started the 'Bioware Template,' improved from Baldur's Gate.

Spoiler
Basically, your lone hero embarks on an impossible (linear) quest and along the way meets people in linear dungeons (planets) who have amazingly well done dialogue and backstories and grow on the character, with new dialogue after every mission, and some romance options, so by the end of the game when they are faced with death, you will be that much more engaged in the climix.

It's for that reason alone that I can't bring myself to play an evil character in KOTOR. I like all of the characters too much to be so cruel to them, especially Mission.

The only Bioware game where I did not become attached to the followers was Dragon Age.

You could allso try out number two as well, Alot of people bash it (with reason) but if you look past its flaws its really good, Its much more darker than number one, And your Teacher in it is perhaps one of the best written characters in the Star Wars legacy.
