Victim gives description of weapon

I doubt the victim would be able to give a very accurate description of the weapon if they were instantly blinded by it

Why? If a person dies from it, that is their own fault. And if a person kills another with it, that's murder. But it still requires an idiot to do that.

It's extremely dangerous. By your logic we might as well start handing out personal nukes as collector items because surely nobody would want to commit murder.

If somebody uses that as a weapon to cause harm to others (highly likely) does it really matter if we give them a life sentence? What about all the people it would have killed?

It could be shone at aircraft and kill hundreds. Or unleashed on a random crowd of people. Imagine if an organised terrorist group bought a shipment of those.

The government must be out of their mind if they let this be available to the public.

does it come attachable to a RIS rail system?
Snap it to my M4

You should add some audio when you fire it. *pew* *pew**pew*

These things will replace current 40mm grenade launchers in near future.

Now if only we could curve it...

Well, here in the US the Federal Government would not be able to restrict anyone from buying it, but they could restrict shipping of it.

The states could ban them, which they probably will.

Other than a Nuke, I cant think of a weapon i'd link to "I saw a flash of light, a horrifically painful burning sensation and I went blind." other than a Laser beam.

Think of the opposite side of the argument; who in their right mind would mug a nerd, knowing there's a decent chance he's going to brandish a lightsaber?!

It would be worth every dime it costs, just to have one criminal go from a smug look of amusemant on his face, to sheer and total horror as I set fire to his clothes!

I imagine we'll see this weapon coming into play should Kick-ass get a sequel :')

Want! :D

The only bad part is the cancer. And blinding people instantly. And the chance of the laser activating in your pocket and burning a hole in your pants. :P

Among other things.

I don't believe so, but it is fully compatible with the universal Duct Tape Mk1 system. :P

Read about this in the news paper yesterday morning. I have to say that how easy it is to obtain is cause for concern -- It's effectively a lethal weapon with no restrictions on ownership. Just imagine what would happen when the street gangs of england figure out its just as easy, if not easier, to obtain one of these instead of an illegal fire arm.

Still pretty awesome though -- I don't doubt that it will be incorporated into the military at some point, or at least something of a similar effect will.

Censored word rhyming with lavs, giving them lighsabres, natural selection, or jedi apocalypse for the UK.

God that sound is annoying....

Try having everyone in school have it on their phone a few years back, wanted to punch whoever had it on.

I need one, especially if people around here have them.

Wow, make this the first time I've been genuinely concerned about someone being in possession of what should just be a novelty item. I won't be surprised if this doesn't end well. And it probably won't.

If it helps you sleep at night, this device is technically "less than lethal" and therefore less deadly than fireworks, guns, knives, clubs, chainsaws, driving a car, or riding with a 16 year old driver.

Also, for the low price of 50/month USD I am offering Laser Blindness Insurance.

Wouldnt the laser go through the other laser, injuring or killing both people ?

What's with all the outrage?

I don't see how this is more dangerous then lets say firecrackers.

One of my friends blew his hand a while ago with a firecracker, when i was a kid, that stuff got in my eye.

Tough i was fine and never used fireworks/crackers again.

Yeah, I can see how a tiny dime-a-dozen firecracker and a carcinogenic laser that blinds and ignites everything on contact can be so similar.

Try new Cancer Beam 3000! Now with extra eye-burning goodness!

Experts say, "It's safer than firecrackers!"

There's the worrying part, most of the people interested are either A)Not in their right mind or B)too stupid to live.

Individuals should be banned from owning one of those.

That's kind of ironic, since you know.. <_<

I can't believe people are being so casual about this. This is way more destructive than any firecracker or small arm. You would literally have to turn it on and wave it at a street to ignite all the people there. Then if someone smart gets their hands on it they could even make it undetectable. So these people wouldn't know what the hell is setting them on fire, and even if they survive you have increased their risk of having cancer. Caused trauma and bodily pain to dozens or hundreds and all the suffering of these individuals and then the emotional trauma of the family.

But oh here we are lulzing about dueling and how I want want, and that they are less dangerous than fire crackers. Guess it will take some sort of easily made massacre by a 2 year old kid who doesn't know better to shut it off and waves it around before somehow being stopped. Most likely looking at the laser light and dieing.

Just about anything can give you cancer these days. (including medical equipment)

And i don't think it "burns" through skin, i mean if it does it prolly takes about 5 minutes to penetrate/cut off your arm.

I have not heard of one case where a firecracker has given someone cancer. I've heard plenty of people playing with them and blowing off a digit, but most of the time it's their own fault. But cancer? Never.

It ignites skin on fire! What the hell is wrong with you! If that isn't "burning" through skin to you then you need some help. Oh and how about lighting yourself on fire and seeing how it feels before you give this thing the okay.

Edit
Or perhaps you want to be blinded for life? How does that sound.
