Does anybody else agree that Patch 12 completely screwed over Zerg? Making the roach cost 2 supply with the current build order is a horrible idea. What they should do is reverse the tiers of roaches and hydralisks (with the proper damage balancing, of course). That way, Zerg anti-air is available earlier and the roach is actually good again.

The roach should receive its 2 armor back and maybe give it a very slight regeneration bonus above ground, but nothing too drastic. I thought the roach was supposed to a be a tank-like unit, but all it really was was a Brood War-esque hydralisk that only attacks ground and has horrible range. I'm sick of the roach, and Zerg in general, receiving nerf after nerf with very few buffs to counteract them. They're by far the weakest race right now.

On a positive note, I'm glad to see that they fixed the freezing issue when trying to exit the game.

I agree. This is why I stopped using the Zerg for now. The other nerfs I will agree were pretty fair (in some cases) but now the Roach is only a waste of resources. I still find some Zerg characteristics to be good (rushing, fast expanding, tricky for the opponent if played correctly) but this just annoys me that they would do this to the arguably best Zerg unit (best in terms of all the factors)

I totally decked some terran player with 1 void ray which started out as an economy crippler.

I probably had the void ray about 4 minutes in. The best defense is a strong offense, after all. The game lasted about 9 minutes before I warped in stalkers using a phase prism, completely obliterating the rest of the base.

A game after that, I some how got paired up with a player who had never played a game of SC2 before! If first timers are getting paired up with silver league players, or anything above copper, I think the ranking system needs some tweaking. Anyways, I ended up harassing one of the enemies with a single void ray, which lead to him calling out hackzzz on me. He was like "THERES NO WAY YOU CAN MAKE FLYERS THAT FAST."

My ally built a siege tank and 6 marauders providing some sort of useless distraction to the front of their bases, while I snuck in the back with more voids, tearing both of their production buildings to shreds.

On another note, anyone know who the protoss portrait displayed on the portrait of buildings is? Artanis? I heard he's a protoss figurehead now.

Dude, I'm so terrible at this game now. Or copper players really shouldn't be in the copper league...

What race do you play as?

Like I said before, battle.net has often paired me against copper and bronze players. Somethings wrong with the system. At the end of each game, I always ask what league the player is in.

I've been trying to play as random, just because I think it's fun. I think I just need a good build for a race and stick with it.

Also I svck at micro-managing.

Stick with one race. It'll make it easier for you to get into routine of doing the same thing over again. That way theres room to shave time off teching and what not.

Micro managing is game changing in Starcraft 2, which bugs me a lot. What i'd suggest is hotkeying your buildings, and your forces as well as your production buildings. Memorize hotkeys for building units and you'll be saving valuable time without clicking back and forward. Use abilities like Chrono boosting from the nexus, or the queen's ability to spawn more larva or flying in extra supply depots.

If you ever get completely creamed by someone, watch their reply and watch their build order.

Maybe we'll play sometime this week.

I thought I sent you a friend invite, did you get it or no?

Any who just now I played a [censored] amazing game as Zerg, even with the big Roach nerf. It was a 2v2, early game my partner left. I tried controlling his and my units, then their air destroyed his base so I just focused on mine. Got hydras up fast to stop the air, then build by own force of mutalisks, messed with both of their economies and kept them busy until I had a nydus network going and had hydras and roaches pumping out at full force. Basically sent a nonstop wave of units into their base, I was producing at nearly the rate they were dying (I had 4 hatcheries, with one of those being a hive). Eventually got the air coming in and that broke their bunker/siege tank defense, the other player was trying to aid his ally with void rays but I had some more mutalisks at my base and sent them to cripple the Protoss player's economy. His base and expansion :D After another good 15 minutes of fighting I pretty much destroyed the Terran players base, and the Protoss player was trying to get as much anti air as possible to prevent another economy cripple, but I guess he forgot about my land army, and he had a solid block of photon cannons on the ramp to his base, broke through that and wreaked havoc. Then the Terran player was just being a nuisance by making me find his scattered building he lifted off and sent all around the map. It has to have been my best game I have played, just becasue I feel proud of winning against 2 opponents. :P

Let me go check real quick. Nothing. Maybe I should try adding you?

Wow, that's awesome dude. I really hate it when the enemy tries to hide their workers though, even though they already lost...

Edit: Im gonna send another one, "Suffca.suffca" right? And the "suffca" after the period is what your identifier is correct?

I'm Kothre.champ if anybody wants to hit me up. I'm only in 50-something Bronze league so I'm not that great, but I think I'm improving as of late.

Hmm.. I tried to mess a little around with the shader settings. Setting "Extreme" claims to make us of SSAO, but it is not visible in the game.

I dug further into this.

In the "Model Previewer" in the editor, I set "Shader Mode" to ONLY show the ambient occlusion.

I tried alot of different portraits for models, and they went all just white (no sign of AO).

By digging even further into this, I found ONE SINGLE model to actually have the SSAO:

Weird huh...

Beta ends the 31st of May. http://www.joystiq.com/2010/05/18/starcraft-2-beta-ends-may-31-returning-several-weeks-later/

Now take a deep breath people. *Breathes*

It's coming back later though, they just need to make some hardware configurations.

Dear lord, anyone who willingly plays a money map is welcome into the nearest zerg horde, because they're such boring, despicable things. Thanks for ruining Starcraft's custom map list. Yeah, I want to see a billion and one money maps and the once in a blue moon big game hunters.

I just want to try one out, no need to insult me.

Besides, this is Starcraft 2 we're talking about. If you head over to join a game there are smart filters which allow you to filter out blizzard maps and community maps.

Thanks for the answer though, it was really helpful.

Meh, I love money maps. I hate building multiple bases in any game. Gatherer caps on those maps would be fine with me though.
