Start another RPG series blending TES and Fallout?

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 10:38 pm

BGS should add another RPG series that blends TES and Fallout sort of like... A contemporary setting where a fantastic dimension melds with reality. Sort of like the Dresden Files maybe. :P

Instead of archery there would be guns, motorcycles/cars replace horses/carts, rural settings will be more fantasy while towns/cities are concrete jungles. There could be "Oblivion gate" type portals instead of rural areas that give access to a fantasy dimension and possibly connect different sections of town through them. That would allow them to double land area while keeping the same size map.

Enemies would have resistance to different weapon types like regenerating foes would require a scattergun, or flamethrower from the gun category, a nice axe to chop off hunks and to bleed them out, or spells like freezing and burning which. Have enemies wearing insulated gear that protects against heat and cold magic but get cut down by physical weapons. Stuff like that.

Someone should make a game like that anyway. It is probably too ambitious of an idea... /cry

If they make a new game setting, I would prefer if it was a cyberpunk setting.

I want far future+magic. Yeah, its been done before with Star Wars and Mass Effect, but I want a Bethesda style open world.

Either that or a fairly realistic modern setting open world RPGFPS. My dream game would be something like Far Cry 2 meets Bethesda style, with some sort of multiplayer like in RDR.

A clash of fantasy and future? Sure. A blend of TES and Fallout? No thanks, not from a premise standpoint or a gameplay standpoint. The two series are different enough that some major concessions would have to be made in one way or the other...and a lot of old Fallout fans were already peeved at Fallout 3 for having too much TES in it.

May want to look into Hellgate: London. There's no more multiplayer servers, but I'm having tons of fun with the single player.

Modern fantasy stuff is often fun.

Just... no vampires.

Since Fallout, as it is now, is already "blending Fallout and TES" to quite a margin towards TES, I'd like a game like that to be different from TES completely. Not a bad idea, though.

Shadowrun RPG.

DO EET!

Actually I remember an interview with the heads of Smith & Tinker, and them saying that after Mechwarrior is done they plan to go for Shadowrun or Crimson Skies. Here's hoping. Especially for a really good Shadowrun RPG, which we never had.

I'd love Bethesda to do another series blending some of these elements... I'm not as fond of modern/future Earth settings, though (unless the future Earth is nigh unrecognisable); I'd prefer what I guess you could call space fantasy. Give me Fallout meets The Elder Scrolls meets Warhammer 40,000, any day. Add a dash of Red Dwarf for humour and a touch of Old West steampunk post-apocalypse(!).

I designed a similar setting not long ago, in fact, and Bethesda can use that if they want it. No? All right then. :sadvaultboy:

I wish the gameplay/gamestyle was that of the Shadowrun for the 360 but an RPG

Shadowrun on the Sega Genesis was a really good RPG. The SNES one was more like an adventure game, though.

I admit I have never played the tabletop game, but the lore is really awesome.

I would rather have something like a fantasy game with 18th century technology. Like Fable 3 but good.

I'd prefer a Greek mythology or western RPG, set up like a Beth RPG. Although Ive said before and I'll say again, R* and Beth need to get together and make the most epic third person RPG ever.

It sounds sort of like you want Bethesda to make a He-Man game. That might actually be pretty fun.

 an open world RPG done by Beth in a Cyber Punk setting would be AMAZING!

I'd prefer no fantasy if they are to make a new game, but Cyberpunk or Steampunk Dystopia would be good.

I wouldn't mind something with a universe similar to Too Human or Shadowrun (but doesn't svck like they did). Maybe something like a TES game in the far, far, far, far, far future.

All of the above in this... http://www.palladiumbooks.com/WhatIsRifts.html
And its something I'd love to see Bethesda dive head first into.

*unfortunately... there is another RPG title using the word 'Rift' in the title. :(
