Hi guys

I started with the Start Choices mod installed, and I've just reached Level 10, and decided I'm ready to take on the main quest (I've got OOO installed which is why I waited), but there's only one problem, I can't seem to trigger the main quest.

I was under the impression that if I got thrown in the Imperial City Jail, the quest would start, so I walked right up to a guard and punched him in the face, but they didn't even throw me in the right cell

Anyone know how to sort this?

Umm, how about going into the sewers, getting the ammy of kings and taking it to Jauffre? Might do it,

Figure out how to get arrested in the IC or complete Breaking the Siege of Kvatch


Edit: Try pickpocketing the guard.

There is an option somewhere to enable or disable the main quest start, did you turn it off? The other way to start the main quest is to do the Kvatch quest.

Edit:

set HQst.menu to 1 will bring up the options. Make sure you have the main quest start options enabled.

I had the same problem in my current game, though I'm sure I had the option set right and it's worked for me before. Looking at it in TES4Edit, I see now that the problem for me is in my case likely caused by SM Regional Bounty. Anyway, I manually kickstarted myself into the IC prison tutorial quest with this console command:

setstage HQst 10

That should teleport you directly to the jail cell, and should work, since it's what should happen when you get arrested, IF you're in the IC, IF the main quest isn't started, IF that setting is set right.

I had the Main Quest enabled.
Its sorted now, I was punching a guard in the Jail but he threw me in the wrong cell, so I went to the Palace and attacked the Palace Guards, and they threw me in the right cell

Shame when I dumped all my equipment in there it didn't show up, so I lost everything
