Well the little screen where I'm suppose to check my "data files" disappeard, and I bet it was after I installed OBGE because it asked me to change the path my desktop shortcut was assigned to.

Any clues?

Thats because you are loading oblivion through the OBSE loader (I think). You don't really need the data files window if you use OBMM or Wrye Bash, but if you really want the original look in your Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion folder for the OblivionLauncher and make a shortcut of it on your desktop. Just make sure you don't start the game through the original oblivion launcher. Load the game through the OBSE launcher to keep OBGE and any other OBSE mods.

The problem with this whole thing is that I downloaded an easy mod to start off with, fixing the days and months into earth days and months.
Put the ESP in the oblivion main folder but it doesn't show up in the OBMM. So I was guessing I had to use the DATA FILE check thing that comes with Vanilla.

But am I just simply doing something wrong? Or why won't OBMM recognize the ESP?

You need to drop the ESP in the Oblivion/Data subdirectory. Just drag it on top of the Data folder.
