To start with Normal Edition or GOTY Edition

Post » Mon Mar 07, 2011 10:14 pm

Hi Guys,

I've owned Fallout 3 for the 360 for quite some time. Somehow I just really started getting into it a few weeks ago, and really got addicted to it. Reached level 7 so far, having fun with the sidequests and i'm on the main story line too.

A friend of mine purchased the Game of The Year edition and has so many hours in it, level 17 he told me, and just barely started the main story line. He told me about point pleasant and places like this.

So I'm wondering if I should get the GOTY edition and just load my game from there, or should I concentrate my first playthrough with the standard edition with no DLC at all?

Any advice / opinion?

I really want to enjoy the game to its fullest and i'm a Completitionist when it comes to side quests and stuff.

Ummm hello? You get all the DLCs with the GOTY. Not to mention the fact that they fix some bugs. Either way, your save will work with either edition.

I've only played Point Lookout and Broken Steel DLC but I would say get the GOTY edition and then just see where the game takes you. I wouldn't advise doing Point Lookout when you're still low level though, you'll get thoroughly owned.

point lookout and the spaceship one are really hard. the spaceship quest won't allow you leave the quest until the quest has been won. so you are warned.

However don't do the spaceship or point lookout as the last thing you do in the game, point lookout adds two perks who gives you +5 damage to each bullet fired, very nice for automatic weapons. the spaceship gives you a alien epoxy who let you repair any weapon, very nice for impossible to repair weapons like the gauss rifle or hard to repair as gatling or threebeam lasers. As said you has to finish the quest before leaving and take your time and explore everywhere because of unique loot you can not get more of once finishing it. Novasurge an 80 damage plasma pistol require 75 in science to get.
Operation Anchorage and the pit can be done at any level.

100% vote for GOTY when I voted :)

I found all the DLC's can be done straight out of Vault 101, Point Lookout did require me to use some stealth boys on occaison though. Zeta was fine as long as you make use of the alien weopons (or other uniques you might find).
