Started a New Character - D.I.D

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 10:10 am

This is not the first time I start a DID character in Morrowind - and I guess it won't be the last either. This time I decided to share it here with ye guys.

I used mainly visual mods and LGNPC project mods. The only mods that I added that change the game are:

- Dynamic Magicka Regeneration 2.0 by Duncan
- My own Skills Tweak, where I basically nerf Enchant a lot and somewhat boost Spell casting.

Day 1 - part I

Arrival

My name is Pyrgos Life-Eater and I am Nord travelling by boat. Not sure yet about what happened. Last thing I remember, I was aiming my bow at that Breton [censored] and then I couldn't move. Everything became black and after that... non-stop dreams, only to wake up hearing some Dunmer called Jiub telling me we are reaching Morrowind.

I cannot believe what's happening. I leave Jiub and get into Socucius Ergalla's office. There, after a few questions I answer to uninterestedly, Socucius Ergalla finds out that I am an Archer. He also has an interest in finding out my birth sign, which happens to be The Lover. As he keeps pvssyring, I look around and observe the environment surrounding me. It smells different here, something like mould.

I walk through the door that the guard unlocks. I eat a crab meat sandwich and push it down with sips of flin that I found in the dining room. There is a dagger that I guess nobody will mind if I take it. I also see a bedroll. Despite of my hours of sleep during the trip, I feel like sleeping again, but somehow my curiosity about the world outside is bigger, so I will leave it for later.

I leave the office with some kind of a release document to present to the Legion Captain. Before I meet him, I get attracted to a barrel where I find an interesting ring. What the hell?...

Anyway, the captain explains me that I am free to go, but I should go to a city called Balmora. I can talk to a Elone in a tradehouse nearby to know more directions, but he advises me to take the silt strider to Balmora, as it's safer and cheaper. Silt strider, a giant flea, according to his description. This cannot be a good sign. I get the package I am supposed to hand Caius Cosades and directions to his place. I also get some coin, which will come in handy, I am sure.

Outside I meet a Bosmer asking for a ring that matches the description of the one I found. His name is Fargoth. Maybe the gods wanted me to give it him, and he seems to be a nice fella' anyway. I give him the ring and he gets hysterical. Maybe giving him the ring wasn't a good idea after all.

I go and meet Arrille at the tradehouse, where I discover that I can make a bit of money by selling him stuff. I also go upstairs and talk to Elone. She gives me directions to Balmora, Pelagiad, Vivec and Caldera. Nice girl. Maybe we should meet some time, under the sign of The Lover... ehem... on my way out, I see two Nords and I decide to speak to Holmar. That one has a job for me about spying on Fargoth's hiding place. Hmm... I will have to wait by night time. What will I do until then?

This town of Seyda Neen is small, but a nice one. I like it here. Maybe I should stay here instead of going to Balmora. I inquire about a bed in the city, but nobody seems to have beds to stay overnight. I guess the bedroll I found earlier will have to do.

Day 1 - part II

Outside Seyda Neen

I decide to walk outside the town and kill a mudcrab on my way. I eat its meat. It's not a great titbit, but it helps keep the hunger away. I also get attacked by some loathsome little creature that looks like a big worm. I try to eat some of it after I kill it, but it tastes like dung. There are also 2 giant bugs nearby. Bloody things! I attack them immediately before they fall on me. They have an interesting jelly, although it could go better with a bit of salt. A while after, another worm comes. I try eat to it again, and this time it didn't taste that bad. It has a bit to do with the jelly, actually. Maybe I get used to it.

Meanwhile I freak out when I find a dead body. It has a bag full of coins and a tax office document. I get both. Maybe someone knows about it in Seyda Neen.

I kill 3 more crabs and have a brilliant idea. Arrille buys things from me. Why not sell him mushrooms? Yes, brilliant. A mushroom collector! Maybe I can grab a few extra coins.

Suddenly I hear the loudest scream ever. What the f**k??? and some Bosmer falls at my feet. Believe me, I start to think that Bosmer here in Vvardenfell are crazy. I get his journal and read it. His name was Tahriel and he somehow thought that he would be able to fly. His cap looks interesting, so I take it. I get a few scrolls from him as well, and his sword, which seems to be very nice. After finding and killing another mudcrab, I decide to keep its meat and get back to Seyda Neen. I feel a bit weak and I got already too many bruises. Maybe I am bleeding too much already...

Back to Seyda Neen

Back to Seyda Neen, I hear about this Solstheim island. It looks too far, and people don really paint it that pretty. I also must look horrible. Fargoth told me I am half-dead. Maybe I should look for a healing potion. I go to Socucius Ergalla, following the advice of one of the Guards, and tell him about this tax collector I found dead. Before Socucius suspects that I might have killed him, I decide to hand over the 200 septims he had as well. He now wants to find who killed him, and if I do, I can become almost rich! Ohooo!

I speak to people, but I found pretty soon that they are rude as hell here. Maybe I am not interested in staying in Seyda Neen anymore. Anyway, they tell I should speak to the tax collector's friend, who's apparently in the lighthouse.

I go to Arrille and sell him my mushrooms and some mudcrab meat. I also buy a bow, 50 arrows and 2 chitin gauntlets. Nice! I have a cap and 2 gauntlets. Almost a full set of armour!

I take the chance to read Lives of Saints. St. Seryn is an insteresting one. Patron of distillers brewers? Ah, what I wouldn't for a nice mead now!...

Back outside, Indrele tells me my armour and weapons svck! Well thank you very much, I just invested a great deal of money in my first protection and you now tell me that!

I counted my gold left. Truth be told, I can spend a bit more money to buy more armour. So I go to Arrille's again and buy chitin cuirass, boots and pauldrons. I also sell him more mushrooms! Although I do admit that at the pace I earn money by selling mushrooms I will go bankrupt quite quickly.

It's night time since a few hours now, so I decide to check the lighthouse. Thavere Vendrano is shocked tha she lost her friend Processus Vitellius. No wonder, I think, such an ugly dunmer would hardly get another man in her life time. Anyway, I promise her that I wil check on the suspect and get her Processus' ring.

I go up the stairs and find a bit of bread and greef that I hope Thavere won't bother if I have them as a dinner. I also read bits of the Wraith's Wedding Dowry in the process. Nice book.

Once I get on the top of the lighthouse, I see Fargoth hiding his stuff in a treestump. The thieving bastard!

I get there, have the gold and - now that's interesting - have Fargoth's ring as well. I will use more than he will, as it helps me immediately to feel better. I give the gold to Holmar and get 100 septims back, which is not too bad.

I go back to the Census Office and leave the dagger in the table where I found it. I am very sleepy. I let myself crash on the bedroll and fall asleep immediately...

Day 2

Waking up

That was a nice sleep!

I get out of the Census Office and I go to Arrille. I forgot to sell him a few mushrooms yesterday.

I also have breakfast. Mudcrab meat, that's all I got. While bartering with Arrille, I check his spells and I buy Jack of Trades. Luck is important here in Morrowind, I guess.

I cast it before I get in Foryn Gilvith's House. When I tell him that I count in turning him to the authorities, he attacks me straight away. That was a good opportunity to use my shock blade for the first time. I took his 6 coins and read an interesting book he has. It's chapter 6 of Dance in the fire. Hmmm.... maybe I can find the other chapters later on. I decide to keep the book.

I also keep some herbs that he kept in sacs. They might come in handy later on.

I have a char with Teleri, that tells me something about smugglers. Apparently, I do a good deed if I dispose of those damned bandits. I will keep looking for them.

I go then to Socucius Ergalla, who congratulates me and gives me 500 septims. Nice! I also go to Teleri to give her the ring I took from Foryn's body. She gives me a few potions as a reward. Wasn't she nice?

I know I will be hungry in a few hours, but I don't have much food left. So I guess I will go again hunting for some food. Now that I have a bow, it will be even easier!

The Ancestral Tomb

While looking for food, I find some Ancestral Tomb. I take a peak inside and find a freaking ghost that I kill with a few blows.

I need Luck for this, I am sure! I try to cast Jack of Trades again but, alas, no sufficient magicka!

There are a few scrolls there that I keep for myself. I open a door and I find a mean deadbody walking in my direction. I give him a few blows until I get rid of him. That was difficult.

I use Fargoth's ex-ring to recover a bit from my wounds. I get my hand in the main urn and... ouch!... get burned by a trap. I was still trying to look for my health potions when the trap effect was off. That was close!

Inside I find a very interest ring. It makes me more intellig...my brain hurts... inside, a key that I use to open a lock that I tried a few minutes ago unsuccessfully.

I take an amulet from it. I can't carry bow, longsword and spear at the same time, so I decide not to take the spear with me.

Back to the Wilderness

I still have to find some food for lunch. While walking at the sea side, I find a few fishes biting my feet. Woah! I am too wounded already. I decide to run from them, but they are still waiting for me, smelling the blood running out of my wounds. I use Fargoth's ring again to recover a small bit and I smash my shock sword at both fishes until they're dead!

I am not really in a mood to eat raw fish, but it will have to do. Lunch time!

Later on I find a wrecked ship. Nothing interested inside. Only a blade inside a chest, but I can't really carry it.

Soon after, I find a river, and that was a lovely bath I had! I find a few signs I discover that I am on right way to Balmora. I keep walking until I see a rat that I kill and eat - I am just too hungry!

Just beside, there's a door to some cave. Hm... what's in it?

I open the door, I see a scary Redguard and some spell cast sound. There were at least 2 of them, and they were mean. I am still catching my breath since I stopped running from that bloody cave!

I see a mudcrab that I shoot with 1 arrow. Nice clean shot! I eat the meat to celebrate!

Finally Balmora!

I can see a few houses far away. I run towards them. It can only be Balmora!

But it isn't. Some fishing village called Hla Oad. Damn. I speak to this nice Imperial girl called Pallia Ceno. She tells me there are a few nice girls who have nice gossip. I prefer to have her training me on... speechcraft.

After our mouth-to-mouth training, that lasted something like 3 hours, I find out that I should get to Balmora before it's too late. I find out there are boats that get you to places. Unfortunately, no boats can get me to Balmora. Damn.

Some more gossip and I find out about moon sugar, skooma, Redoran and Hlaalu. Many of these topics don't make much sense to me, but I politely smile and say Yes to everything they say. Plus, there is apparently no easy way to go to Balmora. I wil have to walk.

Onward to... Balmora (I hope)

I am really in a hurry. It is something like 8 PM and I am feeling tired already after such a dangerous day.

While I am crossing a bridge, I find this Nord guy, his name is Fjol. Nice to find to many Nord people. I talk to him, only to find out that he is a bloody bandit!

You want 100 septims? Come and get them, you stupid [censored]!

He did. He almost slew in one blow, I recovered with a health potion and hit three times, but his next blow was a bad one.

Rest in Peace Pyrgos Life-Eater. 2 days in Vvardenfell is too bad to be true. :(

My condolences. And I know exactly how that feels. I've lost more characters to Fjol than to anything else. Fortunately, they were just beginning characters. One of my Khajiits used the Fear power on him, though. It felt good, seeing him flee like a little girl. My Khajiit then growled at him just to mock him, and hastily took off in the other direction... like a little girl, too.

R.I.P.
Fjol can be a [censored] if not approached carefully, my mage defeated him by summoning a ghost that distracted him and then I safely finished him from a distance.

:cold: After this one, it will take a few days to try another character. I hope the story goes a little different by then. And if I don't get a Khajiit, I will leave Fjol alone for a few days for sure! ;)

Next time better don't pay attention to fjol, until you're stronger. And you only want to run into him after getting the related quest. Also you could better go through the ascadian isles instead of the whole bitter coast ;) Much shorter.

Well, I am aware of that, but I am role-playing my character. Makes things funnier. ;)

Oh, i also roleplay. But instead of scavenging the whole bitter coast i took the pelagiad route. You can also roleplay there.
Offcourse you can play that your character gets lost and end up all north because he/she has no clue which way to go.

That is exactly what happened. I was picking mushrooms to sell to Arrille and look for some mudcrab meat lunch (learned how to love the thing). I happened to look at the signs and found out that I was on the right way to Balmora. It was the path to Hla Oad! :)

If I were to create a DiD character in Morrowind I would never let him leave Seyda Neen until all his stats are maxed out :D

Since you might burn through your hardcoe (I refuse to call them DiD) characters pretty fast, you might want to throw in a little randomization. Check my sig. ;)

Yes. But I prefer hardcoe. ~10 years of Diablo gaming did that to me.

EDIT: and thank you, Pyrgopolynices.

Return to III - Morrowind
