Starting again, but don't want DLC to start..

Post » Sun Jul 28, 2013 2:15 am

Basically I want to start again, but I don't want people mentioning the Dawnguard all through the game, or those Miraak followers to come up to me at the start of the game...

I know i could delete the DLC and just redownload it when I want to play it, but what will happen to my other saves that have played those DLC's? Will they be alright as long as I don't load them up? I play on the 360 by the way..

As long as you don't play those other saves who have the DLC, you should be fine.

Yeah, what they said. And for what it's worth, going by what I read on the Elder Scrolls Wiki, the Dragonborn DLC with the Miraak followers won't start until you speak to the Greybeards for the first time. Seems to be the case, as I haven't yet spoken to the Greybeards and still have yet to be approached by those followers. But yeah, not sure you can put off Dawnguard or not.

Keep in mind if you want to start over with the DLC's already installed, you will actually get the Dragonborn Quest again if your reach level 5.

So it makes no sense starting again if you leave your DLC's installed. (considering you will play withoit DLC's)

--------------------------------------------------------

But you can do this: put those saves on a memory stick and keep that stick safe.

After that delete your DLC's and those saves (related to Dragonborn and Dawnguard) and clean your cache.

Then begin from scratch with a new charakter.

If you want to continue with your older saves again, re-download your DLC's again !!!!!

------------------------------------------------------

But if you want to start from scratch and get the Dragonborn and Dawnguard quest again, if you reach a certain level, you can leave your other saves without problems.

Wha?

I have a level 48 character that i've done both DLC's on...

I'm going to start a new character but don't want to play the DLC's till I have finished the main quest and am about level 30-40...

I don't plan on touching the saves I have started the DLC's with anyways so?...

Thanks guys anyway for letting me know that I can uninstall the DLC's and still have my old character safe from major DLC errors, look forward to a fresh new playthrough ;D

Just ignore them. Don't give yourself the added hassle of removing/re-adding them.

But you keep getting attacked by stupidly annoying groups of vampires or cultists who seriously kick your esra* at low levels

Maybe it's just me. But I never encounter them. I have no unofficial patches or related mods, yet my 200 hours current character only had one vampire attack in Dawnstar and that was it. Maybe a Cultist attack or two in the wilderness.

The vampire attacks add a nice sense of urgency and make the threat kinda real. However, [VEHK] are they annoying. Stop killing Adrianne!

If you're on PC, you can just uncheck a little box to activate them and viola, then re-check them when you wanna play the new content.

Easily done:

1. Plug a thumb drive into the 360 and transfer your unwanted DLC onto it then delete them from your hard drive.

2. Play Skyrim to your heart's content.

3. When you want one of the Dlc's plug in your thumb drive and transfer the DLC to your 360 hard drive.

4. Play with desired DLC.

5. Have a blast.

Edit: This is also a good way to save a character you like but want to retire for a while and may play again.
