Starting a DiD Playthrough

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 12:25 pm

I understand that DiD is all about survivability, but i really want to mess things up.

So...

Be an Orc and tear things to shreds...

or...

Be a Breton and be able to survive a puny little mage?

Go orc. Go for a DiD character that laughs in the face of danger.

Dead is Dead

Once your character dies it's end of game you make a new one.

I may be laughing outwardly in the face of danger, but crying on the inside afraid to die to a puny mage.

I'm assuming by "Orc or Breton" you mean "warrior or mage." And because I'm assuming that, I will say: It depends.

Mages require even more premeditation that any other DiD character, simply because of how feeble they tend to be. Sure, with plenty of planning and the proper environment, you're basically invincible, but God forbid you are taken by surprise. My High Elf mage died on the quest where you're getting Nettlebane from the Hagraven witch simply because I hadn't come across a Hagraven yet and she [censored] me with fireballs.

Warrior types, however, allow you to play mostly the way you normally would, albeit with a healthier dosage of caution. You can just barrel through things and be fine most of the time. But, inversely, the warrior is more likely than a mage to lose in ideal, perfect situations than a mage. Not likely, but you'll probably eventually just come across something that can kick your ass and there'll be nothing you can do about it.

I'd say mage, just because I enjoy the amount of work that goes along with it. Not to mention, tiptoeing around like a pansy really draws out the laughably short College of Winterhold questline.

Race doesn't matter, perks is the one thing that supposedly separates different classes.

Passive
Breton minor defense on magic
Tall Elf extra magic bonus

Dark Elf 50% fire
Nord 50% ice

Active, one day thing not very practical but helps a lot when used
Orc high damage
Red Guard able to constantly use smash attacks, better than Orc since you can get through shields fast
Lizard heal over time, very useful

Nords supposedly have more interesting dialog but who knows.

Yeah, really kinda burns me that there is not more difference between all the races. Playing a High Elf Warrior just seems wrong. Kinda like playing an Orc mage. Can't do it.

Orc wih sword and board. Perk in shields and light armor.

If you really don't want to die though just make a Conjuration mage. 2 Atronachs and you never get touched.
