Where to start the Dragonborn

To begin Dragonborn, you must travel to Solstheim. This can be done at any points after installing the game add-on content by travelling to the Windhelm docks and locating Gjalund Salt-Sage, a sea captain that may be willing to take you to the island for a small fee.

The “main” questline of Dragonborn will start soon after you have started the main game’s quest “The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller”, after consulting with the Greybeards for the first time. After having started this quest, you will soon run into a group of Cultists when traveling around the world that will discuss Dragonborn’s questline.

Clearing the System Cache

1. On the Xbox Dashboard, go to “Settings” -> “System Settings” -> “Storage”
2. Scroll to the Hard Drive storage device
3. Press Y for “Device Options”
4. Select “Clear System Cache”
5. Repeat this for every storage device the player uses for Skyrim (HDD, USB drives, etc.)

Next,
  • Delete all DLC content and re-download and install it
  • Delete patch data and re-download it
  • If Skyrim is installed to the Hard Drive or a USB, delete it and reinstall

Below are some helpful pointers in the event you run into some issues while battling Miraak

ISSUE: The player fell through the platform when dismounting Sahrotaar, during the quest “At the Summit of Apocrypha”.
RESOLUTION: This issue is very rare and can usually be avoided if the player reloads their previous save and tries again. It may be helpful to avoid trying to issue further commands to Sahrotaar after having commanded him to land.

ISSUE: Using the Aetherial Shield can break the encounter with Miraak during the quest “At the Summit of Apocrypha”, Miraak will stop responding after trying to absorb a dragon soul.
RESOLUTION: To avoid this situation, the player will need to load a save prior to using the Shield against Miraak and avoid using the power during the battle.

ISSUE: Miraak’s dialogue will not start if player immediately tells Sahrotaar to land after taking off, during the quest “At the Summit of Apocrypha”.
RESOLUTION: If the player ends up in this situation they will need to reload a save prior to mounting Sahrotaar and allow the dragonriding tutorial messages to finish playing out before telling Sahrotaar to land, if they wish to avoid running into this problem again.

ISSUE: Sahrotaar may become frozen while landing during the quest “At the Summit of Apocrypha” if one of Miraak’s dragon allies is targeted and Sahrotaar is commanded to attack while he is hovering, before the fight with Miraak begins.
RESOLUTION: If the player ends up stuck in this situation they will need to reload a previous save and avoid commanding Sahrotaar to attack Miraak’s dragon allies at this point.

ISSUE: Miraak will rarely get stuck in an ethereal form during “At the Summit of Apocrypha” where he will take no damage.
RESOLUTION: This issue can sometimes occur if the player makes many attacks very quickly or does a very large amount of damage in a single attack – the player should try reloading a save prior to the issue occurring and try the fight again.
