Which classes and perks should I venture out too? I normally only deal with One Hand Weapons

Thanks Wastelanders

There are no classes, but go with melee and explosives for combat skills, put hardcoe mode on when prompted in the beginning, and set the difficulty to very hard.

After all, who does not love a messy prank?

hardcoe Mode ==> http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/hardcoe_mode

I don't play the game without it. I tried it once and didn't like it.

I can't play New Vegas anymore, the middle, clear part of the disc sort of exploded. :(

hardcoe mode usually isn't directly threatening to your combat, but rather it threatens you behind the scenes. Non-hardcoe mode, you could stockpile the ammo type of your choice and use your favorite gun for days. hardcoe mode, ammo has weight so your carrying capacity has a limit; you'll find it's a good idea to carry some form of sidearm to use on easier opponents to help conserve on the ammo for your more powerful guns.
And then the biggest difference is stimpacks healing over time. Without hardcoe mode, you could literally hotkey stimpacks and slam down that hotkey to constantly throw yourself back up to full health. hardcoe mode doesn't work like that: you better be able to take cover or not get yourself in such a situation to begin with.

Personally I think anything but very hard-hardcoe mode just doesn't feel right. Very hard-hardcoe mode is the difficulty where enemies feel equally as threatening and capable as you are.
