Starting Oblivion once more - Mod suggestions?

Post » Mon Apr 25, 2011 3:15 pm

I will be starting Oblivion for the PC, after replaying through it on the 360 too many times.
Now, the main reason for this is mods, lots of mods. I had Oblivion for a bit (lent it from a friend) but never go around to installing some mods. What are the best mods I should be getting?
Many thanks.

Takes a fairly decent system to run it, but lesser pcs can run it at a graphics cost.

OOO (oscuros oblivion overhaul)is probably (IMO) the best mod you will find also common oblivion, lost spires, kvatch rebuilt all good mods, just search tesnexus browse the categories you will be overwhelemed with choice

Since you've played Oblivion without any mods already, what did you desperately want to change about the game? What were the things that made you say "if only Bethesda had..."?

The modder forum has some neat links in the sticky threads.

I don't use many mods but the portable campsite is the best for roleplaying my character. Angel considers herself a Mage by training and an Alchemist by profession. She spends a lot of time outdoors but she used to have to travel to a city at night.

Another one I use creates actual scenery seen through the window, I used to constantly look at those always-daylight windows and frown. Now I am constantly looking at those scenic windows and smiling. Either ways. it sort of disrupts immersion. Of course if the windows had been right to begin with, I probably wouldn't have noticed them at all.

First off: Oblivion Mod Manager, Unofficial Oblivion Patch, Oblivion Script Extender, Wrye Bash and BOSS. Important to have when using mods.

Other "essentials": Toggleable Quantity Prompt, DarNified UI, Harvest Flora, COBL (Common Oblivion), and most of TheNiceOne's mods.

Other mods you might want to check out: Race Balancing Project, Deadly Reflex, LAME (Less Annoying Magic Experience) and Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul (or FCOM, which is a compilation of several overhauls... but FCOM is a pain to install).

There are also a lot of body replacers out there that you may want to check out if you're not satisfied with the default Oblivion ones.

Edit: Also want to recommend companion Vilja. If you want a companion that's probably the best companion mod there is out there. :)
