Okay, I bought Fallout 3 a week or so ago and it ran like a dream on my system. I proceeded to mod the hell out of it and it still ran perfectly, a few clipping issues here and there but that's it. But then...I downloaded FOSE and everything went to hell. Now the game crashes on start-up with a black screen or gets about a slide or so in and then crashes with the ever so helpful "This program stopped working. Please wait while Windows searches for a solution". And if, by some random event I get to the menu, my saves are gone and when I try a new game it crashes. The game ran perfectly until FOSE and I've tried everything I can think of. Modifying the .ini file, changing my graphics settings, updating my graphics card, un/reinstall, complete wipe of anything fallout related and system restore to before I ever installed it. Still crashed. I'm at my wits end and more than a little pissed about this...stupid script extender...

Did you pull your upgrade graphics card or something? Your DxDiag indicates that you're running on an integrated Intel graphics chipset, which is incapable of running vanilla Fallout 3, much less a modded version.

The hell? Why would it switch from my Nvidia Geforce 420M card to a crappy Intel? No, I haven't done anything to my hardware, software only. Guess that's the problem, but even then, I have no idea how that happened.


EDIT: Found out what's wrong. By far the most serious mod screw up I have ever caused. Fallout is running fine now, I just messed up with a mod. Still don't know why it says an Intel is running the graphics when obviously my Nvidia is doing the work. Anyway thanks for responding.

May i ask what was your problem because the exact same thing is happening to me.

You need to go into your BIOS and disable your on board graphics chip. Your computer can get confused anytime you have two kinds of hardware options available.
