Exciting! Downloading now. How do your textures compare to Book Jackets, in terms of both scope and aesthetics? The screenshots look really nice.

I really have no idea, I have never used a book texture replacer before.

If you mean the one by Phoenix Amon, this will complement it nicely. Amon's replacer gets specific to each individual volume. StarX's replacer handles the generic book textures. So now you'll be able to have them all in awesome hi-res :)

Oh, yeah I just checked this out and it covers the same textures that AmpolX did at one point that I got my hands on somehow. But like then, I am kind of failing to understand where these actually show up in the game (I ended up only using AmpolX's paper / bookpage textures that were also included). It's probably obvious, but what books do these textures cover that Phoenix Amon's and Grimbot's don't? Basically, what are "generic books"?

I'm guessing that the Bookjacket mod you're talking about gives each book a unique cover. So it comes with an esp that points those books to the proper models. If that mod really affects all vanilla books my textures probably won't show up, unless a few books still use the vanilla textures.

Yes, Amon's mod has an ESP that redirects all the graphics to his own textures. Your mod will function for any mod-added books that are using the generic textures though.

Ah, okay. This leaves me conflicted! I actually had installed AmpolX's and can't recall coming across any of the textures in-game, though it's unlikely I would have noticed anyway. But installing yours and opening a few of the textures in GIMP to compare I was so impressed with the quality compared to what they were overwriting. Hmm, maybe I can edit the Book Jackets mod at some point to let your textures get some exposure in my game world. I am looking forward to the new bookpages texture though, hehe. If you did all of the paper textures it'd be perfect, but the ones by AmpolX I've got installed are decent enough. Book Jackets textures are so well done it's hard to give them up. But dammit your book textures are so nice I'm going to find a way to make this work!

EDIT: Oh yeah mod-added books. Maybe I'll refrain from installing these textures I got for Cobl books.

Yes, using Book Jackets you'll only see vanilla replacers for mod added books (that use vanilla covers of course). Although Book Jackets is excellent I actually prefer AmpolX's medieval book textures over it personally. Just makes books look more like I imagine they would - plus it's excellent quality of course. Anyway, must check out StarX's replacers - looks great as well.

These are very beautiful. I have some mods loaded that add vanilla books, so I am very happy to add these to Book Jackets.

Thanks all! I had a good time in making these, so I′m already looking on other vanilla stuff that could use some improvement. Suggestions are always welcome.

Probably most of the other stuff found in the textures/clutter/books folder. Part 1 features already all the folio, octavo and quarto textures.

When I will reinstall Oblivion, since I egregiously screwed up my late installation of FCOM + other 200 mods, I am so adding these textures to the game! They look just brilliant. And that was a very timely bump, indeed. Bookmarked for future use.

So I can use this to take care of books added by mods? As there is already the very good and very comprehensive(every vanilla book) book jacket mod, I assume this is for the extra books, it won't overwrite anything I mean?

Aye, this replacer will overwrite all generic book covers not covered by Book Jackets. That means mod-added books that don't have their own covers, and static booksets often found in house mods etc., will take these new textures.

And they are gorgeous.
