Stats and Display Stats

Post » Wed Mar 09, 2011 6:59 am

I am looking for some feedback about what you see on the menu dor weapon damage and armor class. This is what I have done:

I wanted a game will all MOBS stats as I use Fran's only in this game. I added some weapon and armor mods (most with MOBS stats). When I started the game the weapon damage and armor AC were not as high as I expected. So it was recommended tome to use a mod called Display Stats. Installed it, nice mod, and at level 1 it showed that my sword did 10 damage and nor 3 like it shows on the weapons menu. Same went for armor class.

So I played the game, leveled up, and the stats displayed in the menu began to inch closer to the ones displayed when using Display Stats.

Now I am at level 22 with 100 in Blade, Marksman, And Heavy Armor. I now notice that the show stats are equal to the ones in Display Stats.

So my question is, do the weapons do the damage shown by Display Stats starting at level 1 or do they scale as you level up and do the damage shown in the regular menu? Same for AC rating?

I have no clue how to test something like this so hope that someone already did and can answer my question. It makes a difference in my game as some weapons still do not match menu stats to Display Stats (specifically some of the ones that do not have MOBS on them).

Or, if someone has a process to test the damage done by a weapon or the actual AC the game sees during play?

The damage shown in vanilla is the damage after attribute/skill modifications, and is the damage you actually do to an enemy without armor/resist etc. The damage shown by Display Stats is the base damage of the weapons, before any modifications. Same for armor stats.

Thanks for the reply. It makes better sense now. So at 100 atribute and skill I can expect to receive the weapon/armor base rating. Level should not matter, right?

OK. Bottom line, what I see in the menu (not Display Stats) is what is used for the BaseWeaponDamage or is it used for WeaponDamage? Or is the value in Display Stats used for BaseWeaponDamage?

The inventory menu is vanilla, so it would be the final calculated value. You should notice that one gradually increasing as you play the game. Now I thought Display Stats showed both, but I don't have my game running atm.

Neither am I but just looked on the tesnexus screenshot page and it displays damage (the value I see in vanilla after having 100 strength and 100 blade skill). So this would mean that when choosing weapons I should follow what I see in vanilla screen when determining which weapon will deal more damage (excluding enchantments and such).

Display Stats displays the BaseWeaponDamage, while the normal inventory displays the WeaponDamage.

So when choosing which weapon to use, the BaseWeaponDamage displayed by Display Stats is the most important factor. Early in the game when your stats are low, many weapons with different BaseWeaponDamage will display the same damage in the vanilla screen, because their final damage is relatively low and rounded down. But just a skill-up or two later, the one with higher BaseWeaponDamage will start giving you better final damage, something you need Display Stats to have any idea about.

Makes sense. Thanks for the mod and the reply. I endorse this file :)
