Stats don't matter or "Style over Substance."

I only take a couple of rank perks in both light and heavy armour nowadays, so I don't have to worry about matching sets and skills

Penitus Occulatus chest and feet + Stormcloak head and hands http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7232/7201680172_85c6432f55_o.jpg

Scaled chest + Dragonplate hands and feet + circlet http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8086/8587967723_9e92343873_o.png

Dragonbone head + Ebony hands + Daedric chest and feet http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7273/7838441166_19f1be8966_o.jpg

Helm of Yngol + Wolf armour + Ironhand Gauntlets http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7234/7326777664_1e8b9e3929_o.jpg

I definitely favour style over substance.

Basic steel armor is still the best looking, if you ask me. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=132773866 /wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I like the idea of matched sets but 'looks' are primary to me. I feel like the " matched set " perks S/B all in one type and roll matched set bonuses into the individual set of armor itself.
I change alot , but my favorite combo's are usually boots, gauntlets and regular clothes(no helmet) and it's concerned me there's not DEXTERITY bonuses.

Totally agree.

Looks great, I think.
I use a lot of modded armors, so I'm not posting here... Still fun to look at your pictures.

Disagree completely. Those perks are not wasted at all, especially earlier on before you max enchanting. Getting a 100 armor boost from putting on a helmet w/ a 25 armor rating is really useful -- especially when you're a baseline warrior who only needs 40 or so perks to max out (meaning you'll eventually have 20+ perks to waste...).

Totally prefer nicer looking things over stats. /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

On my male I love having; Banded Iron Armour, Ancient Nord Helm+Boots, Nordic Steel Gauntlets or whatever they're called.
On a light armour female I really love; Scaled Armour (I really wish Scaled Horn could be upgraded), Forsworn boots, Leather Bracers and no helm.

for people like me who never wear helmets, ever, they are a complete waste... i spend hours in character creation and in riften getting my characters face's "perfect" why would i go covering those up with a clunky ass helmet?? also, matching set is lame unless you never plan on mixing armor... svcks for you if you loot that really awesome piece of armor that boost's your damage or gives you a decent health/stamina boost or whatever but isn't made from the right material. also smithing is really all you need if you get lucky and can find some decent fortify smithing gear(either as loot or on merchants). plus smithing is super easy to skill up at low levels, without grinding if you are smart about it. all in all my opinion still stands, the helmet thing doesn't change it for me, if anything go ahead and take those perks for the low level boost but i would get rid of em(either with DB respec or legendary skills) as soon as my smithing is up to par.

Doesn't make the perks useless though, does it? A useless perk is just that -- a perk that serves next to no purpose to anyone, like Intense Flames or Disintergrate. What you have is a subjective opinion. If I'm playing in light armor or as a robe wearing pure mage, I don't wear a helmet either, so I wouldn't take those perks; however, if I'm playing in heavy armor, then I do wear a helmet & therefore take those perks. I also try to use a matching set because I personally think it looks better. In summation, not using something that is useless to your specific character does not a useless perk make.

Any outfit can be improved with a nice set of Hide bracers. I like wearing those with boots, and civilian clothing. Little hints of danger.

While we're at it, what would be be the best "tunic" like garb for a ranger? The greenish clothes that Faendal wears plus some boots, bracers, and a cloak would probably work pretty well.

Haha, that's a bit harsh.

I would use leather bracers to really complete the motif with the metal studs, but the leather bracers didn't cover enough of the hand for my liking, so I went with TG bracers. If they had studs, they'd be perfect.

Again, to each their own, but I think the look in my screenshot it 10x better than all steel plate armor.

The Green tunic "Clothes" that has the Belt across the chest and the hood attached, Dawnguard Boots, and Imperial Light Bracers.
then you got yourself looking like Link /smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

another cool Archer armor combo is Hide Armor, Adept Mage Hood, and Dawnguard Boots.

I've got it!

Green clothes/tunic, Thieves Guild gloves, leather boots (can't really see in the picture) and a green cape from 'Cloaks of Skyrim'

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p117/arkanSTFU/ranger_zpsa9037d75.png

It's subtle, yet practical, as far as travel and general adventuring are concerned. And kind of going for the Aragorn look here.

Edit: Too bad Faendal had to die for that screenshot. /frown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I am a mix. I like the look of the leather light armors (Leather,Thieves Guild, Guildmaster, and Nightingale.) Yet I like the DB gloves for their 2x backstabbing, but not really how they look. They aren't bad, but not my first choice for aesthetics. I usually craft a pair of leather boots and enchant them to what I want.

I really don't like the look of most light armors (Fur, Hide, Scale, Studded, Elven, Glass, Dragonscale). I really have not found a set of light armor that just "grabs" me, though some of the enchantments a player cannot duplicate can factor into my choices /tongue.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
