I think XP earned for damage would be a better stat to track, personally.
MAYBE track number of kills (since we already get to see the "most kills" person on the scoreboard anyway). But not deaths.
EDIT: Also, tracking damage taken isn't really valid either, because that can be both good and bad, depending on circumstances - running into enemy fire while blazing away and dying in a hopeless suicide charge might be wasteful, but charging in to revive or buff a teammate, or to keep the enemy's attention while a teammate completes the objective is a good reason to take damage - and there's NO way for the game to track which you're doing.
