Staying with fallout 3

Post » Mon Mar 28, 2011 10:58 pm

I have, personally i really enjoy fallout 3, much more than new vegas, i prefer the landscape, the wasteland etc. i find it much more atmospheric. and i can't fault fallout 3 apart from the fact most people look the same, haha.

What do you guys think? anyone agree with me and still play fallout 3 on a daily basis?

thanks :) ,

1. There's already a http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1119703-who-will-keep-playing-fo3-once-new-vegas-is-released/ for this.
2. Where's the 'both' option? I've found meself playing heavily modded F3 again and NV at the same time too. :toughninja:

and i can't fault fallout 3 apart from the fact most people look the same, haha.

F3 zealots beware of what I am going to say:
And the les-terrible writing of course. Bring back the Morrowind staff!

I played just a little of FO:NV. Still around Goodsprings.

I'm kind of staying with fallout 3 for a while in hopes of a patch. Nothing bad has happened so far to me in FO:NV but I get scared from all the posts on it's instability. I'm still getting used to the game mechanics with FO:NV, but spending more time with FO3 at the moment.

My very early impressions are that the character dialog and quests seem improved. Graphics does not seem as good as FO3, but I can't say exactly why it seems that way.

I love New Vegas because of the NCR but I loved F3's DLCs like the Pitt and PL.

I'm coming back to continue my FO3 Characters soon.

Still got a raider who own all of Evergreen Mills, Springvale, and other town, and wants more.

No mods btw, that's what I love about FO3, you can be allies with the raiders and take over their camps on the 360, all with a magic sonic gun.

I'm still into FO3 the most. Much more rich-feeling. But NV was nice to play.

i prefer fallout 3, you will be outright concentrated in the main quest, for me, fo3 is good for starters, so i think its better to try fo3 first before giving a shot to fo nv, but dont get me wrong, new vegas explores more in the real world, in fo3 they dont concentrate much on factions (well they did but its on dlcs) which fo nv has already when you do the main quest. Well its all about implementing a new trend and a change of scenario.

Me! Fallout 3 is just so much better, I dont know why - it just is, I guess. In Fallout 3 its like you against the world. In New vegas the worlds already fine and happy again and you're just a nobody. The atmosphere in Fallout 3 is better as well. In my opinion of course, these arnt facts.

I love FO3. It's my favorite game and I still love just going into the game and wandering around aimlessly doing whatever and I've had it since just after it was released and played it for a LOT of hours. I am playing NV too. It has some great things about it, but it doesn't capture my imagination and make me want to spend hours and hours in the gameworld like FO3 does. I wanted to spend time in the Oblivion gameworld in the same way. Beth is gifted at making inviting gameworlds. They are just fun to wander around in and waste time. NV doesn't really have that. It may in a year after the modders have gotten a good start on it, but it doesn't have that out of the box. The other stuff is great, like improved dialogue, which I always wanted in FO3, but it doesn't keep me coming back for more like all the little details that Beth is so good at putting into the game.

I loved FO3, thought it was the greatest.

Now that I've played FONV, I'm pretty much over the Capitol Wasteland. The main story is linear, way too too many skill points, perks available, the weapons are overpowered and the baddies are mostly nerfed.

Fallout NV has better dialogue, voice acting, writing, interaction, consequences. The stories and relationships of the factions make more sense to me.

It's an actual RPG.

Does anyone else think its a little unfair to post this on only the Fallout 3 board? I think it'd be more fair if it was in the off topic section. Its a little biased to be here imo.

But I can't vote yet, haven't gotten NV yet.

FO3 is too damn immature. I voted for NV cos I don't have another option. For me however: FO1&2 comes first then NV and then well.. FO3. I don't consider FO3 a successor of the classics nor do I find it highly replayable. New Vegas does a better job.

I've beaten NV 3 times, currently working on the house always wins, I have to say that I like new Vegas better. I still play FO3 every week but I play new Vegas more.

They are both great games. I think I would give NV just a little bit of an edge - only because I like the Southwestern setting.

I prefer Fallout 3 myself. I can hardly bring myself to play NV, and now that I have beaten the game, I don't think I'll be going back to it. Of course my friend is the exact opposite in that he loves NV and and doesn't want to go back to Fallout 3, so it's all a matter of personal taste.

The biggest reason is because of exploration. NV offers a more linear experience in that it puts up boundaries in places to direct where they want you to go. In Fallout 3 the boundaries were where they were in your pip-boy. In NV they all over the place, making exploration not as fun.

I.E. I'm making my way to Prim from a rather unusually angle, and it finally comes in my view. I got to jump over some rocks and I'm abruptly stopped by an invisible wall. It forces me to walk all the way around. And even once I got stuck in these invisible barriers causing me to have to kill myself. I just wish I could go where I wanted to go. And I'm not saying it's completely linear, it's just more limited then Fallout 3.

NV is fun, and I did enjoy beating it, but I can't get the same experience from it as I do from Fallout 3.

My dog broke my FONV game a couple days ago (true story, don't ask) so last night, I succumbed to FO withdrawl and started a new FO3 game.
While I still got enjoyment out of it, I must say that I have been spoiled by FONV. Some of the weak voice acting & dialogue really jumps out now.
Plus I'm playing KNOWING I'm going to side with the Brotherhood of Steel no matter how evil I may be.

I don't know that I'll be able to finish this playthrough. NBA 2K11 anyone? :D

FO:NV is so bad, all I did is walk to the Strip in my First playthrough! Fallout 3 takes a lot more skill...

FO3 is great for RPG beginners and people who want an action game with a bit of real interaction with the game world. FONV is great for people who are used to RPGs and like interacting with the world and having some action tossed in. I think that about covers it.

i think they pretty much expected (or concentrated) for the likes of the player who played fo3, because those who have played fo3 before will understand the modification implemented in NV, they are aiming for a new horizon and new story which is by far (as i think what they think) is far different from fo3. Because fo3 is a default model of basic played rpg, NV steps to another level that was not given to fo3.
