Stealing Mjoll the Lioness's gold ruby necklace HELP

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 10:31 pm

I am part of the Thieve's Guild and completed all the main quests and now I am just getting around to doing all the minor optional jobs. One of the first was that I have to pickpocket Mjoll the Lioness and steal her gold ruby necklace. Now well my sneak and lockpicking abilities are good my pickpocketing skill isn't. It is around 20. So I was wondering if you guys and gals had any tips on how to get it from her? I tried while she was sleeping in her house in Riften but everytime it is 0% chance to pickpocket the item from her wherever she is. And plus when she is outside people are always near her. The 0% chance thing though is the main problem. Any help asap is appreciated.

Fortify pickpocket gear and poition will help. Otherwise make a save just befofe you do it, and keep reloading till you are successful.

You need the perk for sleeping to give any bonus to your odds. My suggestion would be to wear the guild clothing that boosts pickpocket, take the first pickpocket perk, and rank up Pickpocket by taking/planting gold on people.

Afraid you'll have to level up pickpocketing. It's the only way.

Spoiler
However, except for RP purposes, it's not necessary to do any of those quests in Riften, as the Thieve's Guild already has influence in that city, via their relationship with Maven Blackbriar. In order to complete the line and become guild master, you just need to do 5 of those jobs, either from Delvin or Vex, for each of the other 4 major cities: Whiterun, Markarth, Solitude, and Windhelm, and do 1 special quest in each of them, which you'll get from Delvin once you've completed the 5 for that city.

If you're interested in streamlining the process, the best way is to quit jobs (or quicksave/quickload) until you get a both a sweep job from Vex and a bedlam job from Delvin in the same city. In finishing the sweep job, you will automatically complete the bedlam job (apparently the items you steal are worth more than 500 gold) at the same time.

Pickpocket EVERYBODY. When I needed money, I went around Riften and Pickpocketed EVERYBODY. Nobody had anything valuable after I was done. Start small and pickpocket food, keys, and small amounts of gold. Then start grabbing silver rings and necklaces. Pickpocket levels up quickly

During my first character playthrough my pickpocketing was kinda high(around 65) and i had specific gear with certain enchantments for thieves guild quests(like fortify pickpocket/sneak 40pts) so overall my pickpocketing skills must have been pretty damn high, yet for some certain fishing jobs my pickpocket chances would still remain at 0% even after drinking potions to fortify my pickpocketing skill, so I would just return to delvin and tell him I wanted out because it was impossible for me to steal the item.

Wait till she goes to sleep then pickpocket it off her.
You don't need much pickpocketing for stealing from sleeping people.

The only way I was able to the Fishing jobs was to wear 4 pieces of +40% Fortify Pickpocket gear and my Pickpocket skill was like 65. I believe that picking pockets for the Fishing jobs is actually more difficult than 'normal' pickpocketing. Also, I think it's actually more difficult to pickpocket people when they are asleep.

Is the value of the target item considered when calculating the difficulty of pickpocketing for your character?
