Stealth Archer: Easy. Next Challenge: Spell Caster

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 11:16 pm

This was my first time playing an elder scroll game and playing as a stealthy archer was too easy on master difficulty. None of my enemies could spot me so I could comfortably kill them from a distance. Sometimes I snuck up behind them and cut their necks with a dagger. It felt phenomenal for the first week but then it got too repetitive. I easily finished all the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild quests. I didn't bother attempting anything else but I did complete the first seven main quests which was kind of fun.

I've now decided to make a second character focused on three out of the five schools of magic: Alteration, Destruction, and Restoration. I can fully upgrade all three of those skills with perks (44 perks in total with plenty to spare for other skills).

What do you all think? If you agree with this strategy which skills do you think I should invest my remaining perks in?

The remaining perks should be in Conjuration! It is fun as hell!

It still would've been better with spell making :(

Conjuration and Enchanting. You will need Enchanting to craft decent mana cost reduction gear, and pure mages in Skyrim are at their best when staying away from blows and playing a support role, so the Atronachs and zombies will be useful to tank for you. Also, do not forget you do not have to fill the whole perk trees. For example, if you do not fight with bound weapons, you do not need to get their perks. Since you rely on Destruction for damage, you do not really need the enchanting perks that affect weapons. And speaking of Destruction, since a lot of the NPCs you'll fight are Nords who'll resist half of it, investing in Frost spells can be neglected with no great loss.
