Something like killing a Deathclaw Mommy with a character that can't take a hit in New Vegas? Sneak attack headshot with silenced Sniper Rifle loaded with AP ammo = Sneak attack headshot with enchanted Longbow and dragonslayer arrows? :D

Hopefully they improve stealth so it's not just the first hit that you stealth.

They should make it so stealth characters can go in and out of stealth in a way that isn't them still being noticable desptie being totally insiable, or the NPC just walking off mid battle saying it must have been a rat or something.

It's hard to explain but i have a really cool animated image of some sort of stealth teleportation where you can attack and dissapear into shadow apearing behind an enemy for another sneak attack.

Since I fight like a tank, this would be difficult. :/ I'll probably have to have a warrior/archer character to bring the svcker down.

Chameleon is magic.

True, but Alchemy is probably a rouge skill this time.

Why are people so worried about stealth characters? I'm more worried about tanks. What are you going to do when he breathes fire at you, or lashes at you with a claw twice the size of a human being? Tank the hit? Sponge the damage? Maybe try to block it? And I can't imagine hitting him a few times with your sword is going to do much. It would be much more useful to stab him in the eye/heart, or electrocute him.

As long as they make blocking not svck as much as it did in oblivion (where you still took like half the damage you would have taken if the guy just stabbed you in the chest) I don't think it will be a big problem.

research the target first.
Where does it live?
Find it's lair, travel, hide, and ambush while it sleeps.

I envision something like
Spoiler
Keening and Sunder in MW
. There can't be that many encounters with Dragons, at least I don't think there will be. So for those few occassions, I think you will have something earned along the way that helps you defeat the beasts. Plus, with marksman, I see somewhat of an advantage that you can hit it with arrows from distance. Lastly, Dragons have enormous size, which may make finding a spot from distance that they have trouble getting to you at, advantageous. Like a crevace or a cave, btw some large rocks etc. The character I wouldnt' want to be is a warrior. They have to get up close and personal, which should make for exciting action, but a challenging fight.

Most of the dragon encounters will be against lesser dragons. They won't be insanely hard or unbeatable for any character.

Hopefully, players will be able to take advantage of cover and use the dragons size to our advantage.

my take on it: ranged, evasion, fast melee. Not a tank being hit all the time. Possibly poisoned arrrows or bolts. stab, stab, stab...a nimble jump over there...stab, stab, stab.

It would be perfect if bethesda somehow moved illusion to the stealth side. It would make for better balancing

Steal it from The Hobbit. Have one scale missing exactly where his heart is. Then a skilled archer can take him down in one shot.

Yeah either weakspots for archers or Have the dragon encounters in specific locations designed for players to run around and dodge dragon breath behind rocks and such.

OT: Dragons' breath and magic should set fire to wood and trees.

Climb onto their bodies and stab a sword down their throat area into the torso. Use the sword to hang on into flight and be ready for them to be pissed off at you. Seeing as how you are using dual wield, duck from the fire attacks it throws at you while you hang on to the sword. When it tries to get you off, take one of your bows and stab it into it's eyes. It'll go insane and probably crash. Guide it over a river or such by tilting the bow to different directions to control it's flight. Now you are over the river - it's time to react quick. Use your magic and use the force to blow the dragon down with powerful force but keep your other hand on the sword. The sword will slide out and the dragon goes colliding with a small glacier in the river below. The glacier fractures it's whole skeletal system and gets knocked out, dying shortly after from massive bleeding. Meanwhile, you are falling down and think that you will either - a. die from the fall or b. freeze in the river. You scream but then actually fall onto a ferry and pass out. The next day you wake up in a hospital and the Adoring Fan is there to talk to you about your adventures.

I bet the dragons are levelscaled and that thus it doesn't really matter how or when you fight them. [/badomen]

They'resupposedly a big part of the game. How's this gonna work? You can't exactly get a killshot by sneak attacking them, can you?

It's easier than trying to bash their skulls in with a mace. You don't need a 1HKO to use stealth classes correctly. The sneak attack just gives you a darn good first blow. The rest is raining arrows up(!?) with your bow. Some poison, an enchanted bow, enchanted arrows, and a sneak attack will still do quite a bit with the higher bow damage.

I'd say there should be some environmental hazards that the dragon only notices if he's alert, so he won't fall for it if you've been found. that way, you could maybe crush the wall of an old ruin down on his back, using it to climb on it and quickly get to the head, where you'll stab it in the eyes, and then when he's blind, you get off him, draw your bow and fire through one of its eyelids, hitting the brain with the arrow and killing it instantly.

might be short, but that would still be epic

There is only one answer:

DODGE
DIVE
DIP
DUCK
AND DODGE!

No but seriously, stealth characters will most likely have to fight more with agility rather than brute strength or magical might. Bows and other marksman weapons will be essential, and hiding will most likely be a good tactic.

Poison apple.
Just make sure you've killed the surrounding lovestock ;)

Reverse pickpocket the dragon while it's in human form with a cursed item

lure it into a city and have the guard help you out

Counfound it in a Kirk uses Green Eggs and Ham method; but just use actual Oblivion dialogues
