Stealth kills, hiding bodies.

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 4:42 pm

Is there any info on hiding bodies for stealth characters or does anyone have any other ideas?

I want to be able to drag dead bodies around easier, also being able to drag them through doors.

It was stupid in Oblivion that you could stealth kill someone and then their buddy sees the dead body and doesn't react. I want them to go in alert mode if they see a dead body.

So being able to drag and hide bodies would be awesome sauce

Also if dead bodies get found they should be disposed of quicker. Seeing a dead NPC laying in the streets for weeks is stupid. Alternatively if you kill someone in the middle of nowhere the body should stay there for a long time and maybe even decompose or something.

I agree, a dead body should put everyone on alert mode. And if it was a friend or loved one an individual should break down and cry or something. And a body stashing mechanic would be cool.

Definitely agree with the body stashing. I hate when in Oblivion if you sneaked attacked someone and one of their buddies comes walking buy and sees the body and just stares at it. :banghead:

I gotta agree with this, in Oblivion I tend to hide bodies even though there's no point, must have picked up the habit from Splinter Cell. I would like to see a real body dragging mechanic, where the player character actually grabs a body. I'm fine with the levitation (like in Oblivion and Fallout) when you grab items, but hiding a body should look more hands on.

Maybe some NPCs could stash dead bodies after killing, if they also try to be stealthy. Could add crimes or mysteries to solve.

that would be awesome if you could hide bodies! But it would kind of be hard to do that in a city... kind of give you away. "HEY LOOK!!!! that guy just killed someone!!!"

"how do you know?"

"he is dragging that body behind that bush..."

It would be nice but I doubt it will happen. All stealth will amount to is a modifier for critical stealth kills.

IT'S OVER, SPLINTER CELL/THIEF/METAL GEAR SOLID IS DEAAD

Moving bodies and knocking enemies out would be great.
Very handy for thief types, who generally don't murder.
I believe this could be done too.
If you look at the stealth kill animation in the trailer,it may be possible.
But instead of slitting the throat, you put your hand over the victims mouth, then pull them back, then knock them out.
It would almost require the exact same animation as the throat slit. :)

Take them out into the woods, or toss them off a cliff around the corner. This assuming you were not seen killing in the first place, or maybe if you had a high speechcraft try to convince the people you didn't do it, even though they saw it.

Just ideas

There are so many games where this mechanic is present and working - thief series, hitman series, the riddike series, splinter cell series, MGS series...

I just makes a logical sense that when your foe sees his buddy on ground his first reaction would be to go check upon him, he would be alerted ;)

Not walk over him, implying he could care less

Wouldn't the blood splatters on you give it away?

Console VRAM limitations means the splatter fades away after a few seconds - clean as a whistle!

Not really, there's plenty of reasons to have blood on you in this kind of world, being an adventurer.

The only thing that needs to be added is a reaction to the dead bodies. You could already hide bodies (or anything else) in the previous Bethesda games, but it didnt accomplish anything since no one reacted to dead bodies. They wont add a body alert meter like the Hitman games because it's Skyrim, not Hitman. Stealth is only one of many paths you can choose for your character, since there is so many they wont all be that detailed. Skyrim is an RPG game, not a stealth game so it would be stupid to add so much detail to such a small part of the game, especially since lots of people may not even choose to be a stealth oriented character.

Just having it so that if an enemy sees a body (pretend the body is in "sneak mode" and can only be seen if the player in sneak mode could be seen in that location as well) then the enemy NPC runs over, checks on them and when they find out they're dead, either yell for back up/ for everyone to go into alert mode, or quietly swear to themselves if nobody else is around

I don't know about any of you, but if a giant Nord warrior killed one of my buddies, I'd be sad, but I sure wouldn't jump up and challenge him. And I'm thinking a lot of ordinary people would think that way, too. Unless you're in New York, where people do, in fact, step over bodies in the street. Or when I'm rooting through a pile of freshly killed corpses, if a guard comes up and asks "What happened here?" I'll just say "Plague! All sudden-like!" And they usually leave me alone.

NPC reaction to bodies is definitely needed to make NPC AIs at all convincing - and if they're going to react to bodies, obviously you should have the ability hide them to prevent alert.

Would be nice if kills in cities caused some form of notice/warning posters as well.

Agreed, I would love to essentially alter reality with my words
" Guards! someones been murdered!"

"nope, its a trick of the light, he's just asleep. In the street. At noon."

"Oh okay, carry on."

I think someone should have to find the body and actually shout out that the person is dead before the all go into alert. No more one guy sees you and the entire base knows where you are!
