Stealth or no stealth>>?

I'd like a Chameleon style camo ability, possibly as a "perk" style ability. However, it should be expensive (?) and fairly inefficient, only good in a fast situation. Contact with a cloaked Operative should shatter their cloak though.

I prefer the "chameleon-camo"-style which makes you almost completely invisible while not moving, but doesn't hide you too well while moving (depending on movement speed).

The HL2-Mod Dystopia did this almost perfect. When standing still, you blend in with the environment perfectly, leaving only a hint of your silhouette which can only be spotted in bright areas. While moving, however, the camo flickers/moves, which is incredibly obvious if you are moving fast.

First off to this all skills cost the same from what I've heard.

Second I don't see where anyone would get this skill story wise... we're suppose to believe that the resistance that beg and steal their weapons could find a cloak generator like that? I'd have to say no to this... this is Brink not TF2.

If a security operative can have one, then the resistance operative can kill one and take it. problem solved.

Also, some skills manage to "cost more" by having levels of skill that get better with each point put into it. Not sure how this would be applied to cloaking tho, maybe it takes longer for the camo to kick in, or is more obvious at lower levels.

noticed a big typo in my post from your quote. I doubt that the resistance can just call security up and borrow their stuff.

I would prefer there to be some derivative of stealth and that it be far more efficient than say, Team Fortress.

If you maange to steal weapons, you shouldn't have to try too hard to steal a cloaking-device.

How so. The spy was well balanced in respect to the rest of the characters.

I'm not even sure what he means by "efficient". The most efficient way to be stealthy would be to say...turn invisible. Anything less, like camouflage, would be less efficient with respect to stealth.

Will there be more than just mindless shooting and ducking? Like stealth? Will there be sniping? and one more thing will there be offline co-op??

1. The operative class encourages stealth although it is not nessecary. Also silencers are ingame so it is assumed that it is.

2. The will be no OHK snipers in the game or 'snipers' is general for that matter although Short Rifle's with scopes attachments will act like multi-hit kill snipers.

3. One of the dev's confirmed split-screen is not going to be in the game, online or possibly system link co-op only.

Hope this clears things up. :)

You don't need to play like Sam Fisher to gain advantage from a silencer. Most skilled players use sound to figure out where the enemy is. If I'm rushing up the middle, I don't want enemies on both sides of me hearing my gun and coming over to help out.

I know, but I was refering to what you said. That when using a silencer you won't give away your position.

We don't know.

But as every weapon-modification seems to have drawbacks upon it's benefits, it is likely.

(Usually a silencer doesn't reduce the damage per se, btw, but the effective range.)

In real life, a silencer can reduce damage, range, or even accuracy, so any of the three could be likely.

In games, silencers tend to increase accuracy (or - reduce recoil), though. Which, imo, is a good thing.

But maybe not in this one as there are muzzle breaks?

Instead of silencers having "typical" pros and cons, perhaps they could approach it differently, and the con[s] could simply be not having very advantageous pros. Like perhaps the only advantage is that it silences your shots, and does nothing it terms altering stats [like accuracy or rof.]

Seems like every attachment has a con to balance its pros, making a bare weapon, or at least an empty upgrade slot, a possible choice. Silencers by their very nature are a pro, so you would need at least one con to balance it out. It also seems like most, if not all, attachments affect equip speed (some, like the shoulder strap, reduce equip speed), So the silencer might just make your weapon take longer to whip out, if they wanted to minimize the con.

Yeah, it was mentioned that the more "tricked" out your gun is, the onger it takes to equip, so a bare weapon should essentialy have the fastest equip time.
