Stealth with Bows ideas

Post » Thu Nov 26, 2015 3:56 pm

Do you know anyone outside of an action movie who can throw a knife, as far as a bow can be shot? So if a silenced sniper rifle is the best, why are there other rifles in the game? I mean, why give people choices if one is a clear winner compared to others?

You can kill with it on a low level when you don't have guns, it's also good for people who like playing melee caracters.

Guess what a bow would be good for? Stealth players.

Where did i say that silenced rifles are the best ?

I just don't see the point of including things that are useless in terms of gameplay.

Why not? I mean... it feels strange that there were NO bows in fallout... I mean... was there no archer in whole America? Arcerhy is a popular sport. I think it's strange that no bow was ever seen.

A lead pipe is useless after you pick up practically any other weapon... Yet it is above a bow being included? What makes a bow such a terrible weapon?

You know what else is a basic and absolutely deadly mid-range weapon?

An atlatl.

Especially in these dire times, where resources and the lack thereof and resource management is vital to knowing you will still be breathing when the sun rises.

Raiders, powder gangers, anyone who isn't heavily armored... which is practically anyone not wearing metal armor... and even then, arrows have been known to pierce plate armor. I don't know if you're being willfully ignorant, or just don't realize the power a bow actually has.

Yes but this is no COD where you can one-shot everybody.

This is fallout and it can take lots of shots to kill somebody.

Long reload time, how are you going to fight off a group of raiders armed with automatic rifles and guns?

While youre going to reload 1 arrow they are going to put 30 bullets in you.

Still. A bow is a powerful weapon. You underestimate the power of a flying arrow. The piercing power of a arrow is very high.

Stealth? Like a sniper rifle? And aprofessional archer can shoot very fast.

It would probably be more useful in the early game or for stealth characters who'd rather fashion their own scrap arrows instead of finding ammunition, or for having poisoned arrows a la the Dart Gun, or maybe even non-lethal approaches like sleep darts.

Not to mention the badass factor of hunting in the wasteland with a home-made scrap bow/crossbow. The "why bother if it's useless" argument can be made for anything that isn't the "Ultima Weapon", and I'd rather Fallout 4 have an item progression that allowed weaker items to become viable in the lategame. I hate when an RPG has equipment progression that gets less and less diverse as the items get better.

This comes down to strategy and general gameplay tactics. You don't run and gun a stealth character like a heavy gun in PA.

I recall that dart gun being arguably one of the most powerful weapons in the game... a toy car no less.

Looks like i'm outnumbered with this one, still i will keep to my point that it will be useless on higher levels.

But why? Bows are powerful beside the long reload time. As I show you in the video... a arrow can be even more powerful than a gun.

check out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HagCuGXJgUs.... a man shot... 10 arrows in 51 seconds and he did it more accurately than the guy who was using a crossbow...

You do realize we don't level up in real life, so why couldn't a bow skill advance in a game?

We already have silenced snipers, which work fine.

ONLY if it's some highly advanced combat bow (like Rambo uses in the second movie). Maybe even with explosive arrows. But no wooden bows! This is Fallout - not the Elder Scrolls - as someone else rightly mentined.
