Steam Christmas Sale

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2016 5:23 pm

I know this will probably fall on deaf ears...

I am really disapointed in that Bethesda has chosen not to put a discount on Fallout 4 this Christmas holiday.

Just Cause 3 released after Fallout 4 and is 20% off for the sale.

Skyrim was 30 or 33% off during the Christmas sale shortly after its release.

Was looking forward to playing during my time off but in Canada Fallout 4 is $80. Oh well guess I will keep waiting.

Maybe Fallout4 is still to popular. It's only a month old so Beth must still be raking it in. I'm sure it won't be that long until it decreases in value. Maybe a family member will purchase you a copy for Crimbo... or at least drop them some hints :fallout:

This. Fallout 4 has been the top selling game on Steam for almost two months STRAIGHT now. It is the most purchased game on the store currently. WHY would they discount a game that is still selling like hot cakes? You only discount something when sales start to slow.

It's only the first day, so you never know. But if you really wanted the game you should have pre ordered it, GMG had a deal which took nearly a third off and I don't think we'll see that again until well into next year.

There will probably be a minor sale on the base game around whenever the first DLC releases, but I wouldn't expect one until then.

This doesn't follow the history of Bethesda games on steam. Actually only AAA game I know of that hasn't really gone on sale at all is GTAV.

I don't preorder games anymore. Publishers are getting too greedy. As a result I never knew about the GMG discount codes (they had one at 50% as well).

Of all the top selling games on the front page right now, Fallout 4 is the only one without a discount. Just Cause 3 released on the 1st and has 20% off for the sale.

Point is when something is selling rly well no company wud normaly put it on sale, i am sure it will be on sale eventualy but probably not this soon.

And btw GTAV did go on sale not long ago on Steam(during black friday sale 33% off) but its been a lot longer than 40 days since its relase when it was on sale.

Other games recently released have gone on sale because they aren't nearly as popular as FO4. Lol I watched game play of just cause 3 and looked like it would get boring in 30 minutes, of course it's on sale.

I doubt we'll see a sale on FO4 this year. I know I'm completely satisfied having paid $90 for it with the season pass.

OP: And your point? Game is still selling for $60 so why on earth would they sell it for less. If you're that cheap don't buy it, if you want to play it buy it.

No AAA game goes on sale right after releasing.

As for your point about other top selling games being on sale, almost none of them are AAA or new are they?

Just Cause 3 is a AAA title and was released on December 1st.

Skyrim was a AAA title when it was released and it had a 33% discount during the Christmas sale in 2011. It was release November 11, 2011 compared to Fallout 4 November 10, 2015. Similar release time frame.

I grabbed this when it was $10. I used it to tide me over until Fallout 4 was released.

The game deserves that price. I was thinking on buying it again as a gift for a friend who's an obsidrone, but I don't trust Steam gift system at all.

Yeah, at $6.79 I will probably just buy when I get home from work even just to have it in my library in case I decide to re-play it yet again.

As you say, Skyrim went in the sale just 6 weeks or so after its release which, I suspect, ticked off a large number of people. From pre-order to purchase as a Christmas gift, Skyrim would have shifted a lot of copies and then to see it drop in price dramatically like that probably left a sour taste in some people's mouths. I personally don't begrudge the price I paid for Skyrim in early December 2011 but I imagine many were disappointed that it was discounted in a Steam sale so quickly.

Imagine you'd bought Just Cause 3 at or shortly after release or a few days ago to gift to someone and now see it at 20% off.

Discounts are great but to see games drop price considerably after just a few weeks is a little frustrating.

But Fallout is still Brand New! And you can't afford $80 for Xmas?

Come on guys, let's take up a collection for him/her. They deserve a glitchy Xmas too!

I don't think Steam is doing any daily deals in this sale. They're rotating which games are featured, but the discounts seem to be constant for the duration.

GMG almost always has a discount code on the front page that can be applied to pretty much anything (right now it's 20%). If you're not getting at least 20% off a purchase from them, you should wait a day or two.

I did that a few years ago when it was in a sale for $5. I've now bought digital versions for almost everything that I had in physical form.

Prefer physical myself. I have some digital, but I end up with so many saves that I need all that room for them, not the games themselves!

Wouldn't make any dang sense to discount a product selling like crazy from a business perspective. If you want it cheap, you are just going to have to wait. Sure, Just Cause 3 is on sale, probably trying to grab some extra sales for the holiday and will probably even out the lost profit for the extra sales. Fallout will probably not gain many more sales for the lost profit of a discount so it just doesn't make any sense. Put your caps down for it, or don't play it yet.
