Yes, I do agree fully that fixing this bug needs to be their top priority. Because this can be potentially game breaking. Things like poor performance in some places is really more of an annoyance than anything, and even occassionally crashing to desktop isn't that serious as long as it doesn't happen too often and it doesn't always happen when you do something or go to a specific place, but things like this can't just be ignored. Honestly, I also wonder how this problem got into the finished game, I mean, I don't see how none of the play testers could possibly have NOT notived this bug. Or did Obsidian just think that no one would mind?
Now, it is usually unwise not to use manual saves on a regular basis even in Oblivion and Fallout 3, but in those games, at least, even when your last save in a session is an auto or quick save, you can usually trust that it will be there when you start up the game again, and besides, I've heard of people who have had a problem like this even with manual saves, in any case, even if there are ways to avoid the problem, it should still be fixed.
I still strongly recommend using manual saves, mind you, I'm just saying that isn't an excuse to ignore the problem.
