Post » Sat Sep 25, 2010 4:37 am

Has anyone got steam working with a 64 bit windows 7 pro? Steam support is terrible! we need to start a class action law suit! Steam take days to respond and then it still doesnt work, How can you force a person who buys a game with the disk to install it from the internet! This is BS! there people our here that dont have internet, and dont play online games. Also the box doesnt say you must have internet to install!!!

i put another message and it gone, think steam deleted it, put up another message today.

I got steam to work in windows 7 xp mode but after spending 3 days download the file (slow interent in hotel) it starts to play and ends up with a message that you cant play it in a remote window! Crap! At his point i think i take the game back, bad rap the companies and tell all my friends dont buy the game! I really hate to downgrade my system back to a Xp 32 bit PC! i didnt have any problem runing Fallout 3 it work perfectly why they had to put Steam as a download was stupid! I have to find something else to do as i am on the road on contract with the Feds.

I'm using Steam on WIndows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and have never had any problems with it.

I get that you're having some issues but a class action lawsuit is taking it a bit too far don't you think?

Not sure what your problem is, but Steam works perfectly fine on Windows 7 64bit.

It's not windows seven per say, but the bloat ware that comes with your ASUS, I've got a G51J and it's the Creative Audigy programs that are making your computer F up. It's a conflict with steam, what you can do is disable the creative audigy drivers or unistall all Creative industries software. Problem I've got is that Fallout is now stuttering badly whenever I use the radio or activate Vats, look around or really do anything.

I thank you at least I have a clue what it might be, As far as steam support it worthless and bethesda, the silence is annorying . thanks people i try and remove all soundblaster and creative programs and driver. that all i wanted was something not silence for two companies that are suppose to support the game. not just take the money and run!

thanks again.

on another thought the other laptop is a ASUS m50 32 bit and that has creative sound system and it works fine on that system. also window 7 XP mode also has soundvlaster drivers, and steam load fine on that. It has to be the 64 bit drivers that causing it.

Why don't you post your dxdiag instead of just blaming Steam and Bethesda? Sometimes it is just the smallest thing........

they should give you $$$ for tech support. You fixd my steam issue. I uninstall soundblaster and got past the steam issue. Its been five day no responds from Steam or bethesda, they have Rotten support. Now to fixed your provblem check your direct show., it has to be what casuing your video issues. i had did some minor stuff to get my coping of Blu ray to hard drives work. my fallout works fine except fthe program doesnt close poperly but i just end task it, very minor issue.

once again thanks.

The main reason I am replying is to your last comment; I don't know about the regular edition of F:NV, but I have the collectors edition, and on the back right next to the system requirements is a big red box that says "REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION AND FREE STEAM ACCOUNT TO ACTIVATE" so I'm sure the regular edition says the same.

The regular version also states this.

Well I'm new to steam signed up to buy the NV game, heard was great for PC gaming (knot) I'm sure it had fine print agreement when I pre ordered it thru them. I'm TOTALLY 100% DISSATISFIED with Steam on my 1st use of them. Prob. after prob. issue with multi same game # seems fixed but now when I try start new game it say's will erase saves and start fresh but doesn't! So far I have reinstalled this great but crappy game 4 times. I even have refrag,d my HD, reset partitions so can try on all OP I have XP 32, XP 64, Vista 64 none work very well at all. Searching hours on forums totally SUX. Beth once had ATI fix link on offical site now it's not there? Just Garbage on Diary's WTF? Beth, Zeni, Obliv. GET YOUR [censored] TOGETHER. I have a Asus P6T Deluxe, 4870 ATI card, rest is usless to state but one yaer ago everything I used to build this comp. was TOP of the line, still not ready to try Win. OS 7. Seems so many of you guys just say ok got the strat and basic game ready lets lonch, without the slitest concern for your custumers!

I was highly dissapointed when I recieved my game disc in the mail and tried to install only to be told steam was needed. The issue being, I am deployed and the internet here available for our own systems is very substandard at best. I was able to get steam installed by letting it run overnight, and installed the game, and I still can not play it as steam needs to update completely before it will let me log on in offline mode. The only support I have gotten from Bethesda was pretty much a sorry, but you are SOL. I paid over $80 to have this game sent here to Afghanistan (I know several people who did and none of us can play it) and it is sitting in my dvd case till I get back to the states. Piss poor service if you ask me.

That's not the answer. My X-Fi works fine. No conflicts.

I'm actually very surprised that I'm not getting radio stutter in NV like I was in FO3 with my X-Fi card.

QQ man.
The day when every game is obtained via download it not too far away. Beth is just looking out for their own interests using Steam, as it limits piracy better than normal DRM/Copy-protection.
Not their fault your location has ass internet, now is it? If you want a total off-line experience, get a console.

Thats just not true.
I run Steam on Windows 7 home premium 64 bit and NEVER had problems with it.
Actually...never had problems running anything under 64 bit so far.

Specs:
AMD Phenom II 940(BE) X4 @3.0ghz
ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB DDR5
6GB RAM DDR2 by Corsairs
RealTech High Def Audio (onboard)

All the hardware is made to run under 64 bit.

I guess you didn't pick up on the sarcasm of my post. I even provided a link to the Steam Hardware Survey that shows the majority of people using Steam have Windows 7 64bit.
