Steam Deals

Anyone bought Deus Ex: Invisible War during the sale?
That game crashes on me more often than anything I've ever seen (let's say about 10-15 times in 2.3 hours of having the game running). During the loadingscreens between levels it will flash me a bsod before rebooting and it froze up on me once. I tried lowering the graphics settings which stopped the crashing for a little while, setting the affinity to one core, running in windows98 compatibility mode but nothing seems to help.

The only thing I haven't tried yet that I've seen mentioned on either the eidos forums or steam forums is to install the game (+steam) on my C: drive instead of the G: drive, but that would be a real pain + I'd like to keep windows and steam on two separate hard drives.

(short specs: e8500 core 2 duo, hd4850, 2 gigs of ram, windows xp)

Hmmmm...seeing as very few people have played Brink, that's a hard one to call.

I guess you can say that. I guess I will say that I'm calling it out that Brink will be way betterer than Borderlands. Borderlands has a weapon system like Diablo 2, but it failed on it, imo.

Someone should really change the thread title from Steam Deals to Good Game Deals or something similar, as now it just seems like people are saying "It's not on steam but..." . A thread for all the deals from various retailers would be more useful anyway, you can find out if there are any deals on Steam quicker by going on their website than going here, but deals from multiple retailers would actually be useful.

Aliens vs. Predator is now 33% off on Steam too. It's only been out for a month, so that's pretty quick.

Not usually a good sign when they have to put it on sale so soon after release though. :P

Everquest starter pack is 75% off on steam. (2 pound in England) You get a free expansion with it and 30 days of free game time. I bought it, I have no intention of paying after the 30 days is up but even so, 2 pound is a good deal for 30 days to me.

If torchlight is being made into an MMO, isn't it being made by ex-bliz employee's? I find the thought of that kinda funny, can't you picture a few developers sitting in a room in front of comps wearing blizzard shirts and hats with like red paint splattered on em, and stuff saying, hehe only we can make the real wow-killer with our similar gameplay and graphics engine >.> =P just a bit of geek humor there.

I thought Torchlight had some people that worked on Diablo, not World of Warcraft. Although I may be wrong.

Not a deal, but it seems that Steam has dropped Ubisoft titles containing the "mother of all DRM". Neither side has officially stated anything, so it's still speculation. Wouldn't surprise me, though.

If it's because you 'only*' have a debit card, you still can buy it from Steam.
They also accept most all debit cards from the firms mentioned. ;)

*) 'Only' is a bit of a misnomer. Debit cards are getting nearly as common as their Credit brethren nowadays...

I'd say anyone aching for Bloodlines in a downloadable version should wait until Good Old Games releases it. They don't got that deal with Activision for nothing. :hehe:

I think they gotta stay competitive... The game was for sale in normal stores here for about 25€... Opposed to the usual 40~50.

I've never had a credit card myself. I've had a debit card since I was 16 though (I'm 20 in May). Never had any problems buying anything online (or retail for that matter). There was only ever one place that didn't accept Solo that stopped me trying* there. Nowadays, my debit is a visa anyway, so I can do as much as somebody with a credit card.

*The card was a Solo which they wouldn't accept, but they accepted Mastro. Solo and Mastro (at least in this case) are the same thing. So it was the staff being idiotic, not actually a problem with my card.
