Steam, etc. deals/sales

I went ahead and bought Torchlight. Only 5 bucks, and the way it's looking right now who knows if they're going to put something I'm waiting for on sale.

Just put Warhammer DoW II Gold in my cart, going to wait (and sleep) a bit, any opinions about the game? Worth € 10,- for someone who will probably only play the single player portion?

EDIT: I have part one and the expansions, although I haven't been able to beat any of the expansions due to the difficulty. Also played the DoW II demo (skirmish) and couldn't manage to win, although that was a while back and I'm probably a bit better now.

I thought the single players for both DOW II and Chaos Rising were rather well done, definitely worth the on-sale price.

GOG has http://www.gog.com/en/promo/age_of_wonders on sale. Buy all three at 50% off ($13) or individual games for 30% off.

Hm. I've been interested in that series since GoG added it to their collection, but I'm not sure if it'd be more worthwhile to get the original game or skip directly to Age of Wonders 2. Or just get the whole series, despite my already massive backlog of games? :P

Anyone have any opinions?

If you're going to get both AoW2 and AoW:SM (the third in the series, apparently), its actually slightly cheaper ($1) to get the first as well.

New deals are up. Left4Dead 2 for 5 euros/dollars is nice if you don't have it already. The King's Bounty deal looks nice too.

New deals:

Left 4 Dead 2: $5.00
COD 4: $14.99
Wings of Prey: $14.99
Supreme Commander 2: $3.75
Galcon Fusion: $2.50
King's Bounty: Platinum Edition: $8.75
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light: $7.49
Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City: $10.20
Indie Pulse Pack: $4.99

Personally, Episodes from Liberty City is extremely tempting, even considering the performance issues and DRM. The Indie Pulse Pack is tempting too.

$5 for Left 4 Dead 2 is good, too bad I already have it. $15 for Call of Duty 4 on sale is pathetic though, just goes to show how greedy Activision is. Doesn't look to be anything for me in this crop of sales either.

The Indie Pulse Pack is a definite win. I already have Audiosurf and Beathazard and they are both awesome games. The Polynomial looks really fun and there's two more games on top of that. 5 bucks. I just wish I didn't already have two of them. Still a pretty good deal.

Got Torchlight yesterday for $5 and am pleased with it even if it is quite repetative and easy (as an Alchemist on normal) and picked up Left 4 Dead 2 today. I figure the low price is finally close enough to being worth it so I figured why not.

Is Sup Com 2 worth it? I loved Forged Alliance, but from what I've heard, the sequel fails heavily compared to the first.

Don't go into playing it thinking it is going to be the sequel to Supreme Commander or TA, because it's not. Think of it as a normal RTS with some nice features. I only played the campaign (Which, according to Steam, took me 14 hours) and I didn't regret spending $10 when it was on sale a while ago.

Is Steam acting up for anybody right now? I've never had problems with it in the past, but my sister tried to install Counter Strike: Source on her Mac and it crashes when it reaches 99%, tried it on her PC, same thing. Then, she tried it on our mom's Mac, and the same thing again happens.

Now, I just bought Left 4 Dead 2 since it's on sale for $5 on my PC, and now Steam keeps crashing for me whenever the installation process gets to the end. I've never had problems installing games via Steam before, so is Steam just busy due to traffic or what? I can't seem to find answers anywhere.

Does anyone know how you can hold off on giving a gift on steam? I want to gift someone L4d2 on Christmas but when I go to 'purchase as gift' it will only let me send them the gift right now.

Maybe if you purchse it for yourself if it knows you already have it it will show you a gift pass. I am not positive though.

In case anyone is wondering what I did was put my email in the email field. Now it shows up in the 'gifts and guest passes' so I will be able to gift it to them through that.

Don't forget to look at the 'specials' tab, the daily deals don't show everything. For instance: mount and blade is also -75% (but only warband is shown) and with the deus ex pack a couple of days ago the games separately where also on sale..

I thought I made a good wishlist but this is the third time a game in my top 5 goes on sale, then again it's not like I have a reasonable chance of winning anyway. Time to disappoint my wallet again.

EDIT: just in time I notice that mount and blade complete is also on sale for the same pricetag as the origional mount and blade :ooo:

The puzzle pack is rather tempting, does anyone have an opinion on any of the games? How difficult are they?

If I buy the Orange Box, but I already have TF2, can I gift just TF2 to someone?

EDIT:NM, found the answer. Just got the Orange Box + Mount and Blade.
