"or any Dual Core"
If your CPU is anything more recent than a Pentium4, you should be okay :). Core2Duos are equivalent to a P4 of, what, double the clock-speed? The figure I recall for the Pentium M (on which C2D is based) is 1.86x.

In any case, they give you much more power for your Hertz.

EDIT: And if you look at the graphics requirement -"NVidia 6600/ ATI 1300"- you'll notice that the tech it's asking for half a decade old.

Steam is having a week-long sale of THQ games. Today it is http://store.steampowered.com/sale/redfaction 1, 2, and Guerilla.

RF1 was aright, worth $2.50. I recommend against RF2, I found it irritating due to the overwhelming feel of 'cruddy console port' <_<. Guerilla uses Games for Windows Live, so I haven't played it (not bothered by that, got the lot in the THQ pack when it was on sale ages ago).

Geurilla was really really good. I picked it up the last time it was on sale, excellent game. GFWL doesn't bother me much. It's a slight annoyance, but it doesn't ruin games for me.

EDIT: Today's deal is for Titan's Quest. Well worth 5 bucks for the game and the expansion. It's not the most complex game every, but it can eat up a good amount of time.

Today's deal is Metro 2033 for £6.50. I know a lot of people have said it's really linear and nothing like FO which it was intially compared to, but is it worth the £6.50? I figure it's a pretty good price for that...

Well it's 66% off. If you are unsure about it buy it now as it is unlikely to get cheaper.

But for US$27.20, the "Eh, I'll give it a go" factor just isn't there .

EDIT: http://store.steampowered.com/app/500/ and http://store.steampowered.com/app/550/ are both 50% off.

I may look into DMC4... that's about all that interests me there though, what with my rule against buying anything over $10 via Steam.

Frontlines: Fuel of War is on sale as well. It's gotten mixed reviews, but it's very cheap.

I'm probably going to finally cave and pick up Bioshock. The demo really creeped me out, but I guess that's appropriate with Halloween coming up.

Dammit, I just bought Stalker: SoC for $20 the other day. Could have saved some money if I waited.

Edit: Typo.

This is why I never buy a game over steam at full price. Chances are if I wait long enough I can find it cheaper at a retail store or it'll go on sale over Steam.

I bought Dead Space too, because why not?

Is it worth it to pick up GTA 3 and Vice City for $5? I have San Andreas and played Vice City before and get bored with the games after awhile. But they are good to just load up and mess around in. Not sure if it is worth the $5 though, especially while unemployed.

Master of Orion 3 -- I gather its not as good as the second one

Yeah, that's a big understatement. :)

That said, I liked it, and I recommend getting it as cheap as you can, and then patching it, and then install the Vanilla mod, Google it, and you have a game that's fully functional. :)
Instead of barely plays correctly, with an AI that doesn't do anything, at all. Or if they do anything, it's rare as hell.

Steam is running free weekend on Shattered Horizon and Lead and Gold, which also means they've cut the price by 50%

I bought Lead and Gold on release day, and while I enjoyed it I didn't want to recommend it. When it released it lacked support for dedicated servers. This pretty much killed the game upon release and now when there is dedis the playerbase is generally ~20-40 players online at a given time. I pray for this free weekend to generate some more members and I urge you to try it, and make your own mind about buying it =). The gameplay is solid and enjoyable, all classes have varied uses and tactics and the environments (if you love your graphics) are beautiful. Technical issues with stuff such as the server browser and such is still an issue though. but try it!

If anyone's played Shattered Horizon, what was the size of the playerbase before the free weekend? I love the concept and especially the fact that the environment looks like oversized bits of ISS and not spaced out stations a la... well, any Sci-Fi really.
