Good Afternoon. Upon release of Fallout 4, I was experiencing multiple crashes that were related to an XAudio issue. The support forum page http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1544136-fallout-4-updates/) noted to enable the Beta version of Fallout 4 at the time to correct the issue. The build at that time has since been pushed out to all users however in my steam library, the game continues to be listed as "Fallout 4 [beta]"

Without a current beta running, I have no option to remove or rename the game in my steam library without having to resort to a full re-download and re-install of the game (all ~28GB of it).

Could it be possible to push a pseudo "Beta" to Steam so users like myself can have the option to change how it is listed within Steam, or could a future update validate the Game name as it is in steam if there is no beta running?

I had the exact same issue, but there is no need to re-download and re-install the whole game at all!

All you need to do is make a copy of your "...\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4" folder at a different location, uninstall the game from Steam, then copy the backup folder back to its original location in the "...\Steam\steamapps\common\" folder and finally do a "re-install" of the game through Steam. Instead of downloading it all from scratch, Steam will recognise all of the files that you copied back and, after a short validation period, your game will be "re-installed" and appear in your Steam Library without those annoying [beta] tags!

if you're going to uninstall via Steam, make sure you back up your save files too. I know "cloud save", but don't trust it lol

Backing up your saves is always a good idea, no matter what you are doing to any game's files!

Beta might actually not be a bad description. I've seen Steam Greenlight material that was put together better than the launch release of Fallout 4. Granted, different complexities involved here, but still. Irony.
