Steam just did an update now I can't get out of Iverstead. I can't fast travel out or walk across the god-damn bridge without the game crashing to the desktop. Come on folks this is no longer a laughing matter. This is absolute BS. I have the PC version and I can't even take it back for a refund: Which means that I am out $60. :swear:

There's nothing in the 1.3 version of the game that can do this so I'm guessing there's a conflict somewhere, do you have any mods installed? If so it could be those, also have you tried re-verifying the cache? Highlight the game in your steam library, right click and go to properties. Then to local files and click the Verify Integrity of the Cache. Works a lot of the time

EDIT: Bear in mind the cache method will replace your ini tweaks, so back those up if you made a lot of changes

You didn't answer the question about mod. Do you have mods? If you do try disabling them and try again.

Look regardless of whether or not I have mods attached to this game or not. I paid $60 for this game and I expect it to work straight out of the box: PERIOD. Is that understood by everyone here including Bethesda and Steam.

Nope, there is no warranty for games and there is also no promise of fixing issues, in fact all the patches are nothing more than a good business strategy.

Well in case you didn't know, it does matter if it has mods. If you put in a mod for 1.2 fixes and it has a issue working with 1.3 you will get game crashes. From playing Oblivion, FO3 and FO:NV I found that if I crash to desktop its usually a mod issue.

Not regardless because mods can break your game. Everyone who uses mods knows this, or should know it, because modders clearly state it.

First off I have never had that problem with FO3 or FNV and I have over 100 mods attached to each --as with Dragon Age origins. And I have gotten many updates with Steam with those games installed.

Look folks are trying to help you and you won't listen. So don't ask for help or post if you are just going to disregard what folks say. There is a wealth of experience here and you could probably be playing the game right now if you just listened.

I'm just gonna say what everyone else is thinking.

Then you're too stupid to play this game anyway, un-install it and move on.

this, even i (a console gamer) know enough about mods to know it can screw you over if you have the wrong mod at the wrong time (which he clearly does)

I am not disregarding anything. What people are saying to me is S.O.P. first and foremost. And, what I am saying is that I have done all of that --including just now uninstalling both Steam and Skyrim, for the 5th time, mind you since I purchased it on Nov 12th.

New to PC gaming are we?

It's mainly because newest versions are no more compatible with the old INIs. Remove any [I mean ANY] mods, delete your INIs and start from scratch.

Thanks, but I am already in the process of doing just that. In fact, I have uninstalled both Steam sand Skyrim to start from total scratch. I am upset because I have been dealing with all kinds of issues --before and after mods and the like. It just gets really old really quick.

Very important as the uninstaller leaves them intact....carrying over the issue if it is indeed an ini issue.

You also have to manually delete the Data folder in the Skyrim directory, otherwise your using whatever may have been added via a mod.

Also, if you used any ugridstoload tweaks they can cause issues with loading fresh ini's.
So make backup copies of your current inis so you have them for reference "just in case".

Keeping in mind there is currently a bug with "saveini" where it places the ini file in the Data folder rather than My Games/Skyrim. Use the following commands to downgrade ugrids if it was raised.

Load the last save you want to use, open console, and type each of these lines out in order.

setini "ugridstoload:general" 5
saveini
refreshini

Now save your game. You can load a ugrids 7/9/11 save with the default values again.

P.S.

Right, forgot a bit.

Copy the contents in the "Data" folder ini to the "My Games/Skyrim" folder ini. (copy/paste the data not the ini file itself)
