Steam Oblivion

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 8:01 pm

I have been having crashes every time i start or play Steam Oblivion lately. I know nothing about MOD's but there was one on the list included in the Steam, version called LRM Generic created in 2006. I turned it off and now crashes are less frequent. Can SOMEONE tell me what the heck an LRM Generic is and how it could possibly solve this crash problem. I will go back to the game an find out that the crash's are back which is my luck with this game over the years.

I have no idea what you're talking about. I too play Oblivion off of steam, but have never heard of or seen "LRM Generic"... The only "Mods" that were included were the official DLC mods, which all start with "DLC.esp."

If I'm totally misunderstanding you and that's not what your asking, maybe this will help: If you use a mod that requires OBSE with a steam version of Oblivion, you need the obse_loader.dll (or whatever) that Valve released in order to make OBSE compatible with Steam.

Other than that, I have no idea what this "LRM" is.

If I'm not mistaken, LRM Generic is one of the possible Level Rate Modifier plugins that come with OOO. It certainly doesn't cause crashes, but if the OP has managed to install (parts of) OOO, it is likely that he has many other mods installed as well. So you need to post your mod load order for us to help you.

Thamks for the input . Dumb question where do I get this OBSE loader? I have a leveler program I installed so LRM is not running now. I did install several MOD's and perhaps the loader is what i nee. The game does not crash it just stops running, just freezes up.

I am so dumb when it comes to thigs like this. How do I know or set the MOD load order? If I don't run any MOD'S including the ones that came with the game the game will run. The strange thing is the game does not crash it just locks up and stops. You can be walking running, fighting even standing and its like the in put fro, the keyboard and mouse are just not there.

Sounds like you would benefit from reading through http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/449239-oblivion-mods-faq/. There's some really good information in there for new mod users. In particular, learning about OBMM (the Oblivion Mod Manager) would be something you would probably find helpful.
