Steam patch 1.3 now LIVE!

Post » Sat Apr 10, 2010 6:21 am

Question to those who have been patched: Have the following weapon mod bugs been patched?

1: Weight-reducing mods don't really reduce weight, only the listed weight in the weapon's stats is altered.

2: Laser beam splitter mods don't actually boost overall damage, they just split up the beam so armor is twice as effective against it.

3: Durability-boosting mods cause weapon condition to actually decrease if you use a Repair Kit on them.

Bug Fixes:

-I've been jumping around like a boogyman on crack, trying to do everything I could to get the lever-action weapons to freeze me up, but so far, no success. It would seem this bug is finally 100% fixed
-I also waited two days in-game, shut my game off, then started it back up. It was still Tuesday. The bug where the day resets to Sunday (and makes it quite annoying to make merchants reset their inventory) has been fixed.
-The above-mentioned glitch with durability mods and repair kits has been fixed; repair kits actually repair the weapons instead of breaking them. The other two in the above post, I haven't check on/can't check.

All I can say is, serves you right. Don't mess with the game, and it won't mess with you.

I so hope you're kidding..

Is this thing a joke? Was there some epic typos going on? My Brush gun now fires about as fast as a Anti-Material Rifle and my Sniper Rifle is now rapid fire.

It does detract from that satisfying cowboy gunslinger feeling, but balance-wise i'm fine with it. The brush gun was crazy powerful.

1: Nope, still broken.
2: Dunno.
3: Looks fixed.
EDIT: In fact i just repaired my brush gun+ to the point where it's worth over 700.000 caps so that bug's still there too.

Yeah thanks a [censored] lot steam.

I had you set to NOT AUTO UPDATE FNV. Guess what it did? Auto updated.

[censored] great. Now all my mods are broken. My epic game I had going on right now is utterly ruined.

This is the only real complaint I have about steam. It just auto updates, regardless of whether you have it set to auto update or not.

Use the NVSE loader directly. It circumvents the official launcher, and that's where that setting gets flipped back.

Can any one else open the GECK now? Or is it just a problem with my setup. I can not seem to open up the esm file.

I can't open the updated FalloutNV.esm either.

My sympathies to the modding community.

Too late for some players but for PC/Steam people: if you haven't downloaded the patch yet and you want the option to be able to play a pre-patch version whenever you want:

--Keep/backup a copy of every patch version's .exe files. The files to save a copy of are: FalloutNV.esm, FallouNV.exe, FalloutNV.ico, FalloutNVLauncher.exe. (probably don't need the .ico file but I like to be safe)
--If you go "online" & Steam updates NV, when you're done/go back to offline, you just copy the older files back.
--You have to play NV offline, obviously, if you're playing an older version of the .exe's.

I do this with every patch update so I can always switch back & forth to different versions of the game if I want, since, y'know, sometimes a patch fixes stuff but breaks other stuff for you personally...

@Longknife - if that's true, I'd be happy. Lever action weapons have never been quite fixed for me. It would get better w/every patch, but still a little wonky.

Yeah it was, but this goes a little far, I think. I honestly can't picture myself using ANY of the rifles associated with the Cowboy perk now; other guns are superior. Brush gun needed a nerf, but I liked how the Cowboy Repeater, fully modded and with the cowboy perk, became a nice gun that could still win fights end-game, but still wasn't overpowered. It was on-par with some others, but gave the benefit of cheaper repairs/ammo. Now it's just garbage.

And holy crap, anyone looked at 5mm? -10 DT on the basic 5mm round and -25 on the armor piercing version. The Assault Carbine'll tear up everything now.

Urgh....this doesn't bode well. I hope it's a bug that's quickly fixable, and not intentional.

Is the Brush Gun good still? It was one of my favorite weapons before, I hope it doesn't get ruined. Anyone have the spread and AP cost for it? I don't believe the damage was supposed to change but correct me if I'm wrong.

That means that there's new script functions, most likely. Let's hope they remember to put up the new GECK version.

Does FNVEdit still work, at least?

Damage is the same, so if you sniped with it (like I did) then it still should be good for that, unless if the spread increase was rather dramatic for it. I can't tell yet though. The RoF is pretty bad; "slightly" doesn't describe it.
As for the AP cost....Can't remember, but I think my character could fire 3-4 shots with VATS before. Still can fire three, so the AP cost change is minimal.

The Service Rifle change, imo, will be the most interesting, since every NCR soldier uses that. I can't wait to try and save the Powder Gangers at the NCRCF now! Something tells me it'd be almost impossible for a lower level to do. The Service Rifle's DPS is now not too far behind the Marksman Carbine...

Good. I need to use it to make the temporary WMX update... once Ianpatt gets NVSE caught up, that is.

Great, now Cowboy became useless. I waste time getting Melee up (Guns/EW build), just so the new patch can ruin it all. The CZ57 and LMG better be godly now...

Would appreciate a rundown on what you find....that isn't the weapon changes. Those are already well-documented. :)

I think the Cowboy perk is best now for those who want to use revolvers (Ranger Sequioa, Lucky, etc), which were left untouched. The rifles aren't so great now, at least, not if you're looking for speed. Like I said, the Brush gun might still be good for sniping. I'll make a run through the Mojave with it and tell you how the sniping goes.

The Assault Carbine and CZ57 are probably gonna be godly as hell now: they decreased it's spread (was already the lowest of the automatic weapons) and the 5mm now pierces armor even with basic rounds.

The lever rifles were absurdly fast on the lever anyway. I'm glad they got slowed the heck down. The speed in which they were worked was just... inhuman.
